I've found this '71, but wonder about colors. It is med. red, with black hood stripes, and has gold/tan interior. Has anyone ever seen such a combination?

I don't think there is a way to break down interior colors and exterior colors. I would say if both color options were available, GM would build it that way if someone wanted it. Do the colors match the data plate on the top of the firewall/cowl? Hood stripes were standard with Cowl Induction (but could be deleted) OR an option with the standard SS hood (RPO D88). Either way the stripes were either Black or White depending on exterior color. Again the data plate should show what interior color and exterior color the car was built with.
