Okay I was online looking for a good deal on a quality fuel tank. Shipping prices are a killer now days. I find a Spectra Premium fuel tank from Auto Parts Giant for a good price and free UPS ground shipping. For $132.25 and shipping free from Califorina to Ohio, how can they make any money on this?? To expediate the shipping to 2-5 business days would cost $240 ish dollars. So they are spending a lot on shipping any way you look at it.
Sounds to good to pass up, but when I am wary. Anyone order from this company? Being shipped UPS ground will my tank come to me in excellent condition? Some company's drop ship from the manufacturer, which is in Canada so may be no concern.

Or you can have yours (if you have one?) repaired at a local radiator shop?
There's a huge car parts swap meet in Springfield Ohio coming up. A company out of Minnesota always brings down new glass and gas tanks for Chevelles to this show, among other things such as brake upgrades. Look up Auto City Classics at http://www.autocityclassic.com/
Here's the swap meet website: http://www.ohioswapmeet.com/

I got mine from Auto City and a sending unit as well. Spectra brand. Good stuff. Got the braces while I was at it too.

Thanks Steve, I had not thought of the Springfield swap meet. I called Auto City on 08/22/08 and they were still "iffy" if they were going to be at the show or not. So if they show up I will buy for them. I would rather support someone in the restoration business than a big box house parts store.
The tank is pretty far gone so I don't believe repairing it would help.

I'd rather see you get a new tank, small price to pay for peace of mind when you're driving around. All kinds of crap and crud can be in your tank and make it's way into a fuel line....no thanks.:noway:

A new tank may actually be more economical than redoing an old one. My mechanic was shocked I got such a good price on the tank I had drop shipped to him. He would have had to have charged me over $200 from his source.
