: Carb Spacer/Pcv Port

I installed a Holley HP950 on my 454 and I would like to hook up a PCV port. I dont want to drill and tap the manifold, so I was thinking about tapping a carb spacer for the pcv port. Any suggestions as to what size or what kind of fitting I should use for the port? I recently developed a slight oil leak at the drivers side pan corner and it coincided with the install of the new carb. I am thinking that a pcv will possibly help this situation. Thanks for any suggestions

i used a alluminum 1" spacer from moroso (or mr gasket, cant remember) that had the 3/8 port already in it. also picked the car up a little in the 1/8. Dave

Uh Oh! The 950HP does not have a PCV port in the base? I was thinking of buying one of those carbs. Guess I'll have to run a spacer then. Which model carb did you buy? 80496??

It has no vacuume ports at all. I have the 80496.

I put a 4 hole 1" spacer under it for a PCV port. The raised height gave me nothing but trouble. When I buy a new manifold, I'll tap it for the port and ditch the spacer.

Tim. Be careful running a PCV into one runner of your intake manifold. You will oil-foul a spark plug.

Just a thought...

The 950 has a baseplate which features 1 3/4 bore throttle plates.
The venturi is sized to fit the 1 3/4 throttle.

I wonder if you could use a 4corner idle 850DP baseplate since the throttle plates are the same size?

I was going to try to use a standard 4corner idle 1 11/16 baseplate on a 830Annular carb.
I know the 830 also has a throttle bore size of 1 11/16 so I thought it would work. After talking to Ty over at TPC carbs he informed me that the baseplate on the 830 is special to the 830 only and the other 4corner idle baseplate I had wouldn't work.

I just wonder if that is the case with the 950 also

Does the 950 HP possibly have the boss for a vauum port in the base that can be drilled an tapped for a 1/8" NPT fitting ?

BLK64SS-
No.The baseplate has no boss in it.
The 950 baseplates have no passages or bosses.
