I've purchased a 1968 chevelle and some parts are missing off the car one of which is the front either disc or drums. I need to get the car on a triailer and have new rotors but unsure of spindle will vin decode this??
Vin# 136378z140237
Any other info out of the vin would be good to know as well. Thanks Mike

That VIN doesn't tell you anything at all about the brakes.
They could have been either drum or disk in 68.

If you just need something temporary you could probably find drum brake stuff real cheap since most people are removing them and throwing the stuff away.

The VIN will only tell you this- it's a 2-door, V-8, Malibu Sport coupe, built in Fremont, CA, built mid to late February. Nothing on the VIN or the trim tag will tell you brake options on any Chevelle.

Thank you. if it is a drum car I know the rotors won't fit. Is it shaft length of the spindles or what is the difference???

Actually disk brake spindles can be made from drum brake spindles by machining off the lower mount boss and re-threading it, so I'm told.
