If your talking about the water outlet housing and t'stat, yes you need them. If your talking about the old stove heater for the choke, nope, toss it.
Wire the choke to a source that goes on and off with the ignition switch. Don't hook it to the acc curcuit or the choke will draw power when the key is in the acc position, draning the battery. Don't hook it to the coil, either. I would run a wire to the fuse panel and connect it there.

Make sure it only has power when the ignition is in the run mode too. If the choke is powered with the engine off it will overheat the element and ruin it. It needs the air flow across the coil.

Why do i need that thermostat? My old car had just a waterneck? Where do you recomend wiring the positive wire? (sorry, this is the first time i've wired an electric choke and i don't like wiring anyway!) Thanks

Nevermind, i got the thermostat. But i don't know where exactly to wire the choke. And time is of the essence! Thanks

And dont forget, when installing the new thermostat. Make sure the "cone" side is pointing towards the radiator side. Or the side towards the upper hose.
Chris.

OHHHHHH, i thought zz69chevelle was saying to run it to a source that is ONLY on when the key is starting the engine! Ok, thanks!

Sorry about that, I should have clarified. You don't want a source that is hot when the key is turned the other way, like to listen to the radio. You can get a cheap test light at any parts store to verify when your source is hot.

No problem, i'm just electrical inclined!
