Just inherited a 66 Chevelle from my dad who died of cancer. I know what he wanted for it, but I am trying to find out if his number was close to actual value or if that was what he was willing to take for it.

Here is his description of the car to me before he died.
The 1966 Chevelle is a 396 SS with automatic transmission, Air conditioning, power brakes, power steering, power windows. power drivers seat, power antenna, tilt steering wheel, Red line tires, AM/FM radio (stock radio in addition). Restored and painted in Minnesota in 2002. Has been owned since 1983, stored 10 months of the year.

Any and all info is appreciated. It is an original 138176 VIN......

Paul,
Get prices or an appraisal before offering to anyone. Wouldn't want you to high ball or low ball yourself.
Condition has a lot to do with pricing. If it has the original drivetrain ie: engine, transmission, and rear end that it left the factory with increases the value tremendously.
The factory horsepower rating could significantly affect the pricing.
Lots of variables.
Beautiful car by the pictures. It was your Dad's. Sorry for your loss.
Hate you might have to sell.
Make sure to get what it is worth.
Best of luck,
Herbie

Thank you, I very much appreciate your thoughts and comments.

My dad absolutely loved this car and he will be truly missed. I enjoy the car, but don't carry a love for the car like he did. I am going to sell the car and put the money into college funds to put his two grand-daughters through college, so his legacy will live on.

Have a great day.

Paul,

Mike Crown (66 MYSTERY CHEVELLE) has offered to give you advice about your car. He's the expert around here on 66's so I'd take him up on his offer if I were you. He's a nice guy and not only will you enjoy talking to him, but you'll learn a LOT about your car in the process.

Good luck!

Jacquie

Paul,
I forgot to mention that Mike, along with some others, is a true guru on '66 and '67 Chevelle's on this site concerning correctness of these cars. Sorry, Mike. It would be very good to "pick his brain" about your car. He is also very knowledgeable on both buying and selling prices of these cars. I also believe he does appraisals for a fee?
Use the search function of this site to find unbelievable amount of info.
You should try and post some more pictures including the engine, interior, trunk, and undercarriage.
You will get a much better idea of pricing from the folks on here if you do.
Stunning looking car with some great options on it.

I am going to take pictures of the car to have in hand when I am getting my car appraised. Can anyone tell me all of the pictures I should take. Also, where are all of the numbers I need to find to see if all numbers are matching?

Thanks for your help. I have talked with a local collector and he has said he would not sell it for a few years... at least when the market bounces back.

Thanks for your time.

Let some of us in the local Chevelle club here in MN look at it and we will tell you what a good reasonable value on that car would be. Looks pretty sweet.

Thats an unusual color combination. Is that a vinyl roof? Don't think Regal Red was available with a two tone; but with a vinyl roof of black, white, or beige. Would enjoy just looking at the car, if that possible and could lend my 2cents worth.

Yes, it is the vinyl roof in beige.

Sorry for your loss. I have a friend who recently lost his dad to cancer and he got his 72SS from his dad and he wanted to sell it immediately. Enough of us swayed his vote and convinced him to let emotions settle down before selling it as keeping it carries the torch or so to speak. 6 months later and he is glad he kept it. Nice car and good luck.
