: What kind of radiator setup should I get?
Hey All,
I'm looking around at a bunch of different radiators for my 70'malibu/automatic. Was interested to know what setups you all recommended. I currently have an old (patched several times) radiator. I'm also interested in installing an electric fan.
Something I was looking at was:

from summit, but with a dual fan setup. Sadly this kit doesn't have a transmission cooler and the price is pretty steap!
Any helps or suggestions would be appreciated!

One of these, in the size that you want is more than you'll ever need. I broke in my 11.5:1 compression ratio small block with this radiator and hardly needed to use the fan. it NEVER got above 180, and thats running 2500 rpm for 25 min, sitting in the garage.
Be Cool is overpriced and not worth it in my opinion.
I also forgot to mention the car is a 454BB, 12bolt posi with 410hp. Still a recommended radiator?
quikss Aug 2nd, 04, 4:51 PM I agree with Adam, I have a 468 in my 69 chevelle with about 460 rwhp and thats the radiator I use. I also use a stewart high flow pump and a hi flow thermostat and a pump driven fan, And my car never gets hot. Be sure to order a good stacked plate tranny cooler to go with it and you'll be set. Plus it'll save you $$$ over the Be-Cool (be expensive) set up.

Thanks the both of you for the info, much appreciated!
Regarding the radiator, any of you recommend a trans cooler that will mount with this radiator and an electric fan unit as well? Single or Dual. This is the combo set I was looking to do:
Radiator: Summit Aluminum R/R

Electric Fan: Summit 2,010

- Anyone know the plus and minus of a dual system?
- Will need to make or find brackets to mount to radiator...
Recovery Tank: Cheap summit catch tank.

Trans cooler: Summit of course, they have everything!

Total: About $400, sure beats the $1019 for the Be Cool system.
Ok, after going over alot of radiators.. and I think I'm going to go for one that has a built in transmission cooler.
Anyone have any recommedations?
Bob West Aug 4th, 04, 11:23 AM I'm using an AFCO 2 row core aluminum radiator, with an external transmission cooler, currently not using a shroud, using a fan clutch, heats up to slightly over 190 idling in traffic, but cools immediately as I start to move. I sure like the aluminum radiator at the track, dissipates heat much quicker than the old copper radiator.
