I need some help, I got a big oil leak my 74 Chevy pickup 350 trans and I can't figure it out. The leak is coming out of the tail shaft from between the yoke and the tail shaft, not around the seal but right down the splines of the yoke. It just started today and within two hours I had a 8"x8" puddle under it. I layed under it and watched it leak from inside the yoke out of the splines. Now I have been driving this 74 short bed 350/350 (Gramps) since 1975 and it has over 650,000 miles on it and the trans was out once about 18 years ago for a reseal, that's it. Everything working fine and no leaks until today, any suggestions on what caused this and what is needed to fix it? The transmission still works good and I put another 70 miles on it this afternoon.
thanks

I think there is a seal inside the yoke, like an O ring. That style of yoke has like a breather hole in the back of it.

I had one do that. There was like a little vent inside the yoke. I was gonna just weld up the whole on the backside of it. I got lazy and stood the driveshaft up and just 5 minute epoxied a 1967 quarter over the vent . Has not leaked since. I think I got the idea from this forum. Just dont get messy and get it on the splines of your yoke.

Any year quarter will probably work
