I HAVE A 350 SBC 40 OVER WITH DART HEADS
350 TURBO W SHIFTKIT WITH A 273 GEAR.
I BOUGHT A NEW 268 XE COMP CAM AND IT RUNS
GREAT BUT I CANT GET THE LIFTERS TO STOP
TICKING.IF I READJUST THEM IT GOES AWAY FOR
A COUPLE HUNDRED MILES BUT IT KEEPS COMING BACK.
I HAVE COMP ROLLER TIP ROCKER W/NEW POLYLOCKS.
I HAVE TRIED NEW LIFTERS AGIN,BUT I KEEP COMING
BACK TO SOMETHING WITH THE CAM.IM OPEN TO ANY
SUGESTIONS. I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH SUMMIT 2 HRS.
YESTERDAY BUT THEY KEEP TELLING ME IT CANT BE THE
CAM...THANKS FOR ANY HELP

Step 1: Kill the caps lock. It makes you very hard to read, and IT SEEMS LIKE YOU ARE SHOUTING AT US. Quite unpleasant.

Step 2: When you add your desired preload to it, make the last 1/16 turn or so, with the lock screw and the wrench turning together, after the screw is as tight as you can get it easily with the allen wrench alone. You can jam the screw about 8 times as tight that way as you can by trying to tighten the allen screw by itself.

The cam is probably fine, unless changing the lifters destroyed it. That's usually a very bad idea, unless the cam is absolutely brand new.

The Comp Cams Extreme Energy series are known for being noisier than most hyd cams.Many people here have had simular expirences.
