Dont know for sure, Just guessing. How about 30 or 40.000 Thousand cars, And local TV station said around 1.2 or 1.3 Million people.
My first time at Woodward. Picture this, An eight lane highway 16 miles long, Four lanes going north to Pontiac,Mich,,,,, And four lanes going south to Detroit. ALL EIGHT LANES filled with Hot Rods, Vells, goats, mopars ,, If it has WHEELS it was on Woodward or one of the THOUSANDS of hot rods parked on the side streets.
I think I saw Bob Wilcox ? Befor you DIE you gotta go to the Woodward Cruise, Do not know how many cars, Someone from Mich. May have details.........................
Avg. speed on Sat. 1 MPH driving north or south on Woodward Ave.
Again " WOW " watta a Cruise !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Drove the Red 70 SS 454 Wagon to the cruise and it was a BLAST !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bob:hurray:

You're about right. Last year was about 40,000 cars and they predicted about the same for this year, haven't heard any numbers yet. Last year was about 1.7 million people.

Bob...I agree.Mind boggling.I live 1 mile off Woodward at 12 mile.:D.
There is no way anyone can take in all the activitys offered. You are correct,at least 40,000 hot rods and this years attendance estimated to be 1.2 million spectators. This is the largest one day automotive event on the planet.
Of course..we local guys know that the week leading up to the scheduled event is nothing less than a full blown cruise/car show daily for the entire 32 mile loop.Nobody that i know of has tried to calculate the resale value of the special interest vehicles in attendance.
Like Bob said^..it has to be experianced to truly appreciate it.Mark it on your 09 calender folks.

It does sound like it's a must see event, but I really don't think I could deal with that kind of congestion. If I were ever to go, I'd hve to ride along with someone because I'd have an anuerism sitting in that kind of traffic in my car.
