Hey, man. I saw your post on Camaros.net about your new "big ole tow truck 496" installation.

Since you and I see eye-to-eye on great big street motors, care to share your combo with me?
I'm building a 496 street stroker this fall or early spring.

Thanks, Charles

Sure, I started with a '75 P/U block, then added a new set of Merlin ovals, a good old CC 282S solid cam, a set of ROSS forged pistons so that my CR. is about 9.8 to 1 with .020" steel shim headgaskets.

My crank is a Lunati's welded forged GM unit that I didn't hear them tell me to run 1/4" longer rods with so I used my truck rods and good bolts and then had to go back and have them cam-cut the crank and heavi-metal balance it.

Then added a rebuilt Holley 3310-2 that I put a rear jet-pill plate in and a Strip Dom. single plane intake. Finally a set of el-cheapo Heddman Hedders, 1.75" four tube long, PN 68190's for my First Gen. car..

I built her for max. midrange grunt and I think she turned out OK, imho... (Per D2K, 550hp at 5500rpm and 580t at 4500rpm)... GREAT GRUNT...

Oh, about forgot, I'm gonna be a masochist and run my old 406's old point distributor unless an extra about a $150 comes along for a new rebuilt HEI hy-po unit....
