Has anyone put a B&M Mega shifter(rachet shifter) in a 69 Chevelle automatic floor consol?:confused:

Or.... would it work better putting the B&M in a manual console.

I am getting some bucket seats soon, but I don't want to get rid of the Rachet Shifter, but I want to install a factory automatic( or man.) console.:cool:

I want my cake (and ice cream) and it it too. :yes:

I am currently running a bench seat with the B&M.

What year model?
I have a 69 I am trying to put the Rachet shifter into.
I do not have a factory console yet, can you tell me what I need to buy to make it work?
I know I don't need ALL the complete console.
I do have the B&M mega shifter installed in the car now.

Tony what is the name of your shifter? and was it easy to install in the console?

I did the same with my console too.
I just got the plastic console housing and built some mounting brackets then welded the brackets to the floor.
I made my own top piece out of 1/4" aluminum, cut out the hole for the shifter, marked where the shifter sat on the floor then built more brackets to get the shifter to sit level in the console and welded the brackets to the floor.
Mine was a little overkill though.
I think I could pick up the car with the shifter knob now!
But it is one solid feel.
I finished off the top plate with some 100 grit oxide paper (brushed aluminum look) then put about 6 coats of clear acrylic over it.
I think it looks awesome! I'll have to look for some pictures, I don't know if I ever took any of the install on this.

That is a B&M Megashifter in my 69. I just used a factory manual console. I also used a piece of 1/4 aluminium for the top peice and gave it a brushed look followed with some clear. It was very easy to install in the console. You really cant use the factory top plate because it wouldnt look right with the chrome bezel from the megashifter that has the indicator on it.
