: Ebay questions need input
cuisinartvette Aug 17th, 08, 2:05 AM I just got an Ebay account tonight to try and sell my Z :(
and I am brand new to it.
I was asked a question, "what do I want to get for it".
Is it best I leave that alone until the auction ends and ask them to contact me? Dont know what to answer the guy, really.
Im obviously new and dont want to risk screwing up my rating but do want to sell the car and motor (cuisi90z).
I really dont know how all this works.
Do you have a reserve on the auction? Being new I don't think you have enough feedback to do a buy it now. Now that being said, if the guy is local and has cash in hand sell it to him if the offer is agreeable. Otherwise let the auction run its course. It is you choice to divulge the reserve. From my perception though a public reserve will stall the auction. Don't stop the auction unless you have cash. Lastly be prompt in replies to questions even if it is to tell them you will not make the reserve public. HTH
cuisinartvette Aug 17th, 08, 2:29 AM Ill sell it in a hot second but I dont know if openly taking an offer lower than reserve this early will make me look bad? Do most take the auction to term and then make contact with these guys?
Taking less than your asking is your call. If it is a local deal and you can be happy with the offer why not? BUT Since it is your first time I would let it ride to the end. You paid the fee, get the most exposure out of it. Second relist is free IIRC if it doesn't make the reserve or gets no bids.
Chucks68SS Aug 17th, 08, 9:28 AM You should expect those kind of questions. He may really be interested
or just wasting your time. Personally I would ask him to bid what he feels
its worth and leave it at that. Keep in mind that whatever you say can
be read by everyone that looks at your ad even though you may not be
able to see it.
Remember you can always email them back if the car doesn't sell and
see if they are really interested in the price you want.;)

cuisinartvette Aug 17th, 08, 10:36 AM Had big plans for it...With intake porting and headers you can get low 12s out of it on a good tire minimum. Port the heads and leave the cams and bottom end alone you have a solid 11 second car that idles smooth as silk, gets well over 20 mpg and will give a C6Z06 a run for its money.Seemed like a good bang for the buck to me being as I do my own porting and have all the gaskets.
The cool thing about it is the secondary system that comeson at about 3k. You can feel it in the pedal similar to driving a double pumper. It really comes alive.
Its a good runner that looks good enough to show off but not so nice youre afriad to go beat it up. Ive been throuhg the car head to tail and know everything about it, turned all the wrenches myself.
Got an axtra 5300 mile motor to go with it to.
Honestly it kills me to sell it. Im not a "Vette" guy (only had 3 of em) but this one does everything pretty well. In a bind right now and hate to give up on the 67 an sell it. Never see these Zs running around so its kind of fun driving it.
Youll spank plenty of turbo Porsches, Ferraris if thats your thing. It pulls hard clear to 7k and loves it no "gauge watching" required. Rear view mirror maybe :D
Its not perfect but what is?

you can always lower your reserve and if ti doesn`t sell this time you can ad the "make a offer" feature.
Keep in mind that whatever you say can
be read by everyone that looks at your ad even though you may not be
able to see it.
Actually you can respond without it going on your ad. I do it all the time.

I need to find that feature...Howdo you respond as such? I want to move it not keep relisting it.
Pm box clear :D

just click on your listing and then click on revise listing to lower your reserve or possibly as the make a offer feature. I don`t know if you can ad that after the fact. To respond to questions without it going on your listing just uncheck the box that says to ad it to your listing.
cuisinartvette Aug 17th, 08, 3:07 PM They cancelled my motor ad guess you cant say you accept cash?
Still charged me another $50 too. :(

I would complain. Yes you can say you will accept cash. What they don`t want you to do is to try to make adeal outside of ebay. Alot of people list stuff on ebay and then try to sell it outside of ebay so they don`t have to pay the fees. I`d complain and demand a refund.

cuisinartvette Aug 17th, 08, 7:04 PM I compleined and I got some automated response referring me to some information page.
I need a live person. So far its cost $210 to list the motor and car Im getting pretty ticked off!
I tried to revise the listing on the car 3 times to eliminate the "accepts cash" text and it wont let me change it. I knew better than to sign up for this garbage. Maybe Im just a technical dummy but the customer service sucks, there is none!! How the heck do I get my money back, they have my bank and CC info.
Mods, is there a security hole here? Today on this site only I keep getting random pop up ads (and they arent car related! (hint). Dont get them anywhere else.
No security issues here. It sounds like you have some spamware that is following you around. At this point I have no proof of what is going on with your ebay account but it doesn't sound right.
To clarify, no popups are on our site, never have been. Heck, toss ebay. I don't know how you are out 200 bucks (without selling anything) and use our site and others.

I`ve never been able to get a live person either but I did get email resonces from real people. There has to be a way to talk to someone directly but try emailing them with a selling problem and see what happens. They won`t charge you till the 1st of the month or something like that so you have time.
cuisinartvette Aug 21st, 08, 6:40 PM No response yet from Ebay except a solicitation to relist it again.
Think ll pas on this one..
Man, cant even sell this thing for the same price as the salvage title Zs...Been trying for a yr. Such a cool car going to waste.
Unfortunatey the only responses Ive gotten are from guys I know on the Z forum...Vutures hoping Ill get desperate and give it to the so they can part it out and stick it to their forum "brothers"
Dropped the ins to comp and wil non op it for awhile. :(
Thanks for all the help and tips though.
