what's your take on hood pins? (outside of something that is stock on what ever model)

i've had one hood take flight in a long line of old vehicles.
plus they add a certain amount of 'rod' to the car.

what's your take?

Some moron did a butcher job of putting hood pins on my 69 Charger. I repaired it so it looks like it's suppose to.

Are you reaching speeds over ~120? If so, I'd want them, even on a steel hood.

so while were on the subject i was considering these, actually bought some took them back today because i decided that the style i bought i didn't really like, but i have a stock steel hood.... and it doesn't release right i was just wondering if this was because of a week spring because i have to get under the car and push up on the hood and the release at the same time... and i was going to do away with the release and put hood pins... any more thoughts?

Seen too many hoods destroy too many windshields, a pillars and roof lines to not use pins. Plus, they were stock on my ride and will go back. I like em not just for the safety but because they belong there. One of those things thats form AND function so there they will stay.

hood pins are ok. remember to install the pins so that they line up with the hood/fender line. that way both can be pulled simulaneously from the front if needed quickly and snagging on something won't pull one out.

thanks for all the answers.
no i don't go over 120 often at all. it has a tendency to pop off the latch at about 100 though. (which can be taken care of tuning the hood/latch i suppose)
-- great pics and flicks guys!

My reasoning for wanting them at triple-digit speeds is because of the very high-pressure air that collects under the hood of these cars at those speeds.
