I know there was someone from this site who wanted me to tell them how my Comp Cams XS268 performs but I lost his email and I've noticed a couple other posts wondering how this line of cam performs.

Heres the combo:

81 Camaro(prolly around 3850+ w/ driver)
355 Home Ported World S/R Heads(1.94/1.5 Valves)
1.5 Roller Rockers, World Sportsman Dual Plane Intake, Holley 650 DP, 9.4 CR, and the XS268(230/236@.050 .472/.485 Net lift)

Tremec TKO 5-speed, 3.42s and Nitto Drag Radials

With no tuning-75 degree heat and 100% relative humdity, I was able to get a 13.7@100.7mph with a 2.03 60ft time. I still can't get her to hook(I need full slicks) but if I could it would be an easy low 13 second car. I switched to this from a 203/212@.050 cam and 8.9 CR and the best time in this kinda heat with that combo was 14.2-14.3.

Keeping my foot out of the secondaries I also got 19MPG on the highway on the way there.

Sounds real good! What rpm are you shifting at? And how high have you spun it? What springs are you running?

That cam is in my Son's engine. 331cubic inch, 10.1-1 compression, holley 650 dp, edelbrock rpm airgap, speed pro pistons, eagle h beam rods, factory forged small journal crank, rotating assembly balanced, ported 462 double hump heads, 1 3/4" hooker fenderwell headers, melling high volume pump, carter mechanical fuel pump.

I'm hoping it runs good to 7000rpms. We should have her fired up for cam break in on the test stand soon.

I asked a member of another forums who use to run basically my exact same combo and on his advice I shifted between 5,800-6,000. I really need more gear(or more motor) for the combo to work perfect, I'm shifting into 4th right before I cross the line.

I went against the manufactuer(Comp. reccomends dual springs) and used stock 100LB springs that came with my heads(that already had 25K) to break the cam in, then I swapped in a set of Elgin Z-28 Springs...with my installed height I'm getting about 115 on the seat and 285-290 open. Seem to be working fine, no valve float.

Your son's engine should be very strong, I'm impressed with this cam...I'm just curious what it will do if I swap on a set of AFRs 195s next year!
