Hi guys....I'm still around!

I want to raise the rear of my 70 about 1.5 - 1.75 inches.

Other than color, Firestone Coil Rite (http://www.ride-rite.com/ProductInfo.htm) airbags seem, in their web pics, to be identical to Air Lift 1000 (http://www.airliftcompany.com/al1000.htm).

However, Firestone offers a 2 year warranty whereas Air Lift only gives a one year warranty

Are they the same?
Anyone know for sure?

Why do I only find Air Lifts in TC searches in all forums?

Anybody using Firestone? Happy with them or not.

How does one install the airbag itself.... does airline come out on the side between the spring coils or out the top or bottom?

I am using the air lift 1000's on my 69, bags inside the hotchkis springs on both sides. I have them plumbed with seperate fill lines to each bag for use at the strip. Air lines enter the bottom of the bags. Just let the rear hang down with the car supported by the frame in front of the wheel wells. Compress the bags and insert into the spring thru the side of the coils. Easy install, the valve stems for the bags installed into existing holes in the rear bumper equally spaced on each side of the lisc plate area. If you are going to use them for raising the car, plumb them in common fill line to maintain equal pressure in both bags. Lots of folks will only use one bag for track use, running the bags with enough pressure to raise the rear will stiffen up the feel for sure. I dont run on the street with more than a little air in the bags (they do recommend a minimun air pressure), it helps at the track by running air in the passenger side to flatten out the launch. I have not heard any about the Firestone bags, are they comparable in price? Can not speak for the durability of the airlifts as I have only had them for a short while, but longer than thier warranty.

yes...i forgot to mention they are both the same price

im actually wondering if they are in fact made by the same company (air lift??) and the other (firestone??) markets them under their name?

if they are the same i would go with the firstones for the additional year.

anyone know how long they generally last?

I bought and airlift bag a few years ago atleast, it was like $60, and I split the other bag with someone else.

They are made of an extremely durable plastic and I think once in place it would just take time-- like 10 years-- to become brittle and useless. But thats my guess.

Both are excellent quality bags. Low rider enthusiatss who use air bag setup sor daily use, hpping. dragging, etc. all really talk yup the firestones. A slightly different deal and bag, but IMO a noble endorcement.

i use the airlift bags to level my car and with any more then 35 psi in them it will ride like a buckboard, just like the good old days of air shocks! They bring mine up pretty close with 30-35 psi but I am still thinking of maybe cutting a coil out of the front to drop the front a bit more. All the springs are new but the front just sits a bit higher then I would like.
