I Hesitated posting this but with a lot of topics floating around about combinations, Dangerous shock nut tricks and Traction issues. There is some method to some of my simple minded "madness"

Today at my track they were using a New and Improved traction compound that in my opinion based on today is leaps and bounds better than the previous stuff.

I had a really good day at the track today running a street legal DOT tired class with no restriction in ET and I was nailing the tree. I love those New L.E.D.'s instead of the bulbs. I decided to leave my timing Curve on Medium instead of on Kill or even slower on Conservative just for consistency instead of going for the best ever ET. Here is a summary of 7 passes I made today. best 60 foot was 1.514. .000 is a perfect light.

Dial – Time Trial
Reaction Time - (RED) -.027
ET – 10.809
Mph – 124.89

Dial – Time Trial
RT - .010
ET – 10.774
Mph – 125.32

Round 1

Dial – 10.76
RT - .017
ET – 10.805 (10.771 If Ran Out)
Mph – On Brakes 116.08

Dial – 10.76
RT - .023
ET – 10.769
Mph – 125.2

Dial – 10.76
RT - .020
ET – 10.868 On Brakes Hard ( 10.766 if Ran Out)
Mph – On Brakes Hard 108.29

Dial – 10.76
RT - .012
ET – 10.785 - On Brakes (10.764 if ran out)
Mph – On Brakes 116.64

Final - Win

Dial – 10.76
RT - .050
ET – 10.805 On Brakes (10.772 if ran out)
Mph – On Brakes 116.07

Now I hope I haven't used up all my Good Luck..

Congrats on the win. What's the car count in the class you run in? Buy backs? Dangerous shock nut trick? I say the hell with the naysayers. The proof is in the time slips! BTW, what sort of short times are you pulling these days?

graemlins/thumbsup.gif Thanks Ken, there was 40+ today threatening rain all day, sometimes there are 60, usually takes 5 or 6 rounds to get to the final. No Buy-backs.

pulling 1.51's and low 1.52's. If I had used my most aggressive timing curve may have pulled a 1.499 or so. We had a little rain in between the semi-final and the final for a 1 hour delay, traction went away a little for both me and my opponent in the final it was a 15 second GTO..

Thanks - Jim

But of Course, it has NEVER been trailered to the track Proof that a solid roller will live on the street. I'm still debating that issue for the next bullet. Can't make up my mind.

How far do you drive Tom? Congrats on the win!! what is this new traction compound? better than VHT? I sure hope a roller will live on the street, I ordered the cam that Ed used to get in the 10.40's as long as it will get me a 10 second timeslip...thats all I need graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Tom,
You are my kind of guy. I've never trailered my Nova either, and never had to trailer it home.....yet! :)
I used to have a mid ten sec 68 Chevele, trailer only. But I ended up racing my SS454 street Chevelle way more often, so I sold em both and built my Nova so I could drive it to and from. My trip was 40 miles each way and the freeway trip is a bit noisey but always fun.
Nice job, nice times, congrats. And I bet it's a blast on the freeway!

Congrats on the win, Tom.
I'm glad the rain held off for you! I knew you had your doubts.
I hope my car runs half as consistant as yours...lots of tuning ahead for me.

Good day Tom. (I just got home!) Thanks Jim..Did you find that gremlin under the hood? </font>[/QUOTE]Yeah, just a fouled plug (of course, the hardest one to get at!) The only plugs I could find for these Pro 1 heads locally are these Champion cut-back tip race plugs - waay too cold. Guess I'll be ordering a set of normal plugs today.

Still a good day though - first show trophy of the season.

Thanks again for the brake-kleen!

Tom, I donnow, is that fast enough for a driver!? :D

Good runs, and you make your own luck via opportunity, you aren't running out of anything!

Probably Not :D , but that is where it is going to stay for a while anyway. It is performing as designed.

Thanks Brian...
