I guess there's a buyer out there for just about anything. On second thought, he's listed it 3 times!
I like the "signed paper guarantee" that comes with the broken glass. It reminds me of that awesome line in the movie "Tommy Boy" where Dan Aykroyd says, "I could take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed...I've got the spare time. But all you've got is a guaranteed piece of $hit!"

Yeah, I'm gonna park that in my garage and look at it? Three people died in that thing! Crush it and melt it down, or better yet, bury it. Yeesh - some people will try to make a buck off of anything. :noway:

There were 3adults Jane, attorney Sam Brody, and the car driven by Ronnie Harrison and 3 children and supposedly there were four Chihuahuas in the car with them when they crashed. The 3 adults died and supposedly one of the Chihuahuas died also.
So 3 children and 3 dogs survived most likely because they were in the back seat sleeping at the time of the crash.

So are there any pictures of the car in it's present condition? I looked at it again & it looks like there are a couple of very bad pictures of the car with a tarp on it.

I don't know about you guys, but I see something fishy about the photos. The old B/W photos don't have the same dents as the newer photos. I think this guy is just trying sell the car as Jane's last ride to make a buck off his scrap heap.

What a Dirtbag...

The ones of the car under the tarp look newer to me. I compared them side by side and the tarp car is the same one as in the B&W accident photos. Whether or not the tarp photos are recent I can;t say, but what reason is there to think they aren't?

Only because they looked like the same old picures that are on the net and they are in B&W except for the ones that were originally B&W and have since been colored I guess.

BUT, I never compared them side by side and I can't remember anything for five minutes. :o

you guys seriously need to find jobs to fill up your spare time. mansfield did die in a car wreck, true, but i would bet my life the car has long been disposed of. why would a junk car sit around for the last 40+ years in this condition???? and only B/W photos of the car? nothing odd about that.

for those of you who think this is legit beware of the "i need to get 20million dollars out of nigeria and all i need is your bank account number...". email:)

I've never heard of her(until I read the ebay ad), and I may be way off here, but I have heard of the low riding bar on semi trailers be referred to as a Mansfield Bar. Is this a coincidence or did it get that nickname because of her death:confused:

I've owned tractor trailers for 35 years and been around'em my whole life, thats the first time I've ever heard it called that.It used to be called the I.C.C. bar as it was originally mandated by the now defunct Interstate Commerce Commission. Now it's just called the D.O.T. bumper.

hmmm?

The underride guard is also known as a DOT bumper, or a Mansfield bar. The Mansfield bar name comes from a highly publicized accident involving none other than 50's icon Jayne Mansfield, in which her small car rear-ended a large truck, killing three of the six passengers including Jayne Mansfield. This took place on June 29th, 1967 – before The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration required underride guards on semi-trailers – and the car passed under the truck just high enough that Jayne Mansfield's head impacted the rear of the trailer. Popular rumor for quite some time was that she was decapitated, but in reality only a portion of her skull was severed.

[QUOTE=Dean;1956466]hmmm? :confused:[/QUOTE

More misinformation on the net,the NHTSA wasn't even formed till 70,they now have stricter requirements about height and strength but the ICC bumper has been around for a long time.Way before 1970 or 67.Cars have been crashing into the back of semis forever.Do you really think it took untill 1970 before these were required? We've had semis on our farm since 1960 and they were on our trailers then, partially because it's one of the few ways to climb up in a trailer.

http://www.autosafetyexpert.com/defe...kunderride.php

Truck underride is when a passenger vehicle crashes into and penetrates beneath, or "underrides", the taller rear or side of a large truck or trailer. The top of the car is crushed or ripped off, and the occupants suffer severe head trauma or may be decapitated. Rear guards on trucks and trailers were initially required in 1953, and are known as ICC bumpers (Interstate Commerce Commission), but such rear bumper devices are typically defective.... too high above the road, too narrow across the truck's rear, and too weak to prevent the underride hazard

Hi- Saw this thread and I guess wanted to get other opinions. Alot of people think the car should be destroyed and its disgusting. 1) Should the rocking chair that Pres. Lincoln was shot in that is now on display be destroyed? 2) Should the X100 limo that President Kennedy was shot in and later revamped (new seat of course) and we put Pres. Johnson right back in that same car a few months later in the same seat that Kennedy was shot in (now thats a little much in my opinion but to each their own)---should we destroy that limo that is now on display in the Henry Ford Museum? 3) The Bonnie and Clyde death car that is now on display in the lobby entry way of a casino in Nevada----should that car be destroyed? I guess what I am trying to figure out is what is the difference in these scenarios versus the Jane Mansfield car? Maybe there is something I am not getting? Let me know. Thanks
