Anybody using Flowmaster 30 Series Race Mufflers?? How do you like them? How do they sound? Flowmaster recommended them for my 70 SS540 Chevelle (80%street/20%strip car). I have 830+ h.p. I will be running 3 1/2 inch exaust. I knew before I purchased them, they would be bigger than the 3" 40 series regular Flowmasters I had on the 454 before, but WOW  , they look like they belong on a Mack Truck!! Should I keep them?? run regular Flowmasters? Any other suggestions? I am looking to keep the decibles about the same as I had with the old motor & exaust, border line legal! :D Thanks for any replies! Nick

I like the Dynomax UltraFlow welded ovals. They might be too quiet for you but they will increase your performance compared to Flowmasters.

Yup that's what I have and they're quieter than Flows but flow very well....heck how can Flowmaster be the master of flow when the Ultraflows outflow them?

:D graemlins/hurray.gif Hey I oughta use that as my sig!

Oh, btw what are these 30 series you're referring to? Are those the real short ones?

I'm running the Flowmaster Delta Force Race Mufflers. Don't know if they are the same ones or not. They sound great, raspyer than the regular flowmasters but are Loud, which is what I was after anyway. Mine aren't any bigger though than the regular flowmasters.

Mine are this #389-9430439

If this is the same muffler they sound great. I love them, they are loud but have a really good loud sound(don't crackle, just a really crisp sound) I will admit though they are super loud. I will admit they probably are not the best for the street but they do sound good, I've never been pulled over or anything for them. Hope that helps.

Junkyard Dawg,
Yes, they are the 30 series race mufflers. They are not short at all! They are about 19-21inches long 5 inches thick and about 14 inches wide!! Thats why I say they look like they belong on a Mack Truck!! 3.5 inch inlet and outlet also. It looks like they will work clearance wise. But I'm thinking about the extra weight and heat. Decisions, Decisions....
Thanks for the help!!

70SS496,
I dont dont know if thats the muffler I got , but I will be calling Flowmaster about them. It seems they are smaller than the ones I got and they seem to be for big H.P. cars! Thanks for the help. Nick

I'm using them on my 540, Flowmaster part# 53533-12. 3.5 in and out. Mine are loud but I not running a full length exhaust either.

We have them on the Monte SS with a 383 stroker. They're deep and loud! They are HUGE though compared to the 40 series! You're right about that. But they work great! We have no flow problems with them and we only have a 3 inch. They're really deep sounding. I love the sound. We have the exhaust coming out the side with a chrome tip, and when we pull up next to cars on the highway we can't help but drop down into third and give it a little bit just to hear it bounce off the car next to us. It sounds amazing... I think you'll like it!

PS. Junkyard- I think you're thinking of the 10 series that summit sells.
