Probably a stupid question, but on my 72 I have discs on front, drums on back with a 11in booster. Should I start the car so I have vacuum or not when bleeding my brakes?

It's not really necessary to run the car when you bleed as long as the person pumping the pedal for you a good leg.

heck, you can bleed them yourself. Just make sure the bleeder hose is in fluid and the reservoir is full.
