I degreed the cam today in my buddy's 454 and with a cloyes true roller installed in the 4* adv spot, I get an intake centerline of 109*. The cam is the Lunati 302A6 and the card calls for 106, which is 6* advanced. I tried the straight up position first and got 110*. What will the effect of 3* advanced be compared to the recommended 6*?
Should I get an offset key or bushing for the 3* difference on a street only motor?

FYI: Compression should be between 9.5 and 10 to 1 with 049 heads, pocket-ported w/big valves.

Thanks for the input in advance.

Jeff

Use a 2° bushing, they are easy to find, and the cam will work just fine on 107° int CL.

Harold, Thanks.
Is there an absolute way to insure the bushing will stay where it belongs, or is an offset keyway a more reliable option?
(This is for a street motor I don't want to worry about.)

Thanks,
Jeff

Just get the little plate that has tangs to lock the bolts.
It will hold it in & is real cheap.

Thanks Mike. I'll do just that. I like simple solutions!
