Is there supposed to be a gasket, or seal, between the front fender and the fender extension (headlight frame) on a 70 Chevelle.

RixLS6 Aug 12th, 08, 10:48 AM Nothing but bare steel. No gaskets. DZAUTO Aug 12th, 08, 12:46 PM Wellllllllllllll, that's what I THOUGHT! But a guy (you know, the neighborhood expert who's never owned a Chevelle, much less taken one apart) is telling me there is supposed to be a thin gasket between them. Thanks! Alan Aug 12th, 08, 2:49 PM I believe there is a gasket for the rear taillight section on the '68-'69 Chevelles (If I got my wording correct!). Maybe that's what your local "expert" is talking about :D Either way, RixLS6 has you covered.. Dave Birdwell Aug 12th, 08, 7:35 PM Unless he's a Mustang guy....they have chit like that... Yes there is Simply do a search on eBay under "Ultra-rare, early build '70 SS-454, NOS, NIB, COPO-MOTION-BALDWIN, Concours, Special Order, rare-factory headlight frame gaskets" :D :D :D :D :D :D :D BlueSS454 Aug 12th, 08, 9:02 PM Unless he's a Mustang guy....they have chit like that... And 1970 Dodge Chargers :). Chicken Coupe Aug 13th, 08, 11:56 AM Wellllllllllllll, that's what I THOUGHT! If you don't really like this "expert" all that much you could always say, "Yup, you're 100% correct, but no one makes them now. You have to find NOS and quite frankly, I am up to my eyes in this project, work, etc. and don't have the time to invest in that right now. Any chance you could help me look for them?" :D chevelless1 Aug 13th, 08, 12:28 PM you get those "experts" now and again.......years ago when I was just starting to learn about Chevelles, I was looking for a set of big block exhaust manifolds. A guy at a swap meet had a pair with the Smog holes. I asked him how do I know if I need the ones with or without the holes. He asked if I had a 4 speed car and I said yes and he said you need the ones with the smog holes. I'm sure if I would have said no he would have said the same thing. webfoot Aug 13th, 08, 12:52 PM Some 1st gen firebirds and 68-69 GTOs without the hideaways used these too, IIRC. |
