I bought this car to admire, drive and tinker with.....the all drum brakes seem scary...especially after having Brembo's on every car i've owned in the past 10 yrs....anyways....i'm just starting back into Chevelles since i was 16....32 yrs ago.....here's the Ebay auction it has tons of photos...pick on it please...i'm sure i'm going to be changing a few things here and there

Very nice '66. How much did you snag it for if you dont mind me asking?

Definitly ditch at least the front drums.

OK I will start the picking, I would say take your loses and sell me the car at half of what you gave for it and find you a better looking ridel:)

I was looking at that car a couple of days ago on E-bay and that is one of the sharpest chevelles I've seen in a while.

I like the fact that it has factory air on it.

Not to say anything bad about the car:noway:, but the only thing I saw on the car was the hose clamps on the AC hoses, I would try and get some factory crimped hoses:yes:
That's a lot of pressure to be held on with those type clamps.

Sharp car, something to be "SEEN" in.:hurray:

Do you want a list of stuff to look for also, when you get to see the car in person? Or just what looks suspicious.

Yank that plastic fuel filter. Seen too many VW's and my neighbors 71 Firebird go up in flames from them melting.

...pick on it please...

Sharp car; Congrats! :D
Are you looking to make it appear factory-fresh under the hood, or what exactly are you wanting to be picked on?

Aug 12th, 08, 5:30 AM
That is a really nice ride!

If it were mine;

Ditch the fuel filter
Ditch the gauges under the dash.
Find a way to secure the AC line other than zip tie
Exhaust on P.S. very close to driveshaft.
Put the drum brakes aside and put some brakes on

Someone spent a lot of time on it, looks great!
Heck of a lot cheaper than doing it yourself, buy it done!

Looks like a good car with verification of the resto. Hopefully you will enjoy it as much as you are anticipating.

How many days are you planning for the round trip?

I agree with the above posts.

Looks like some of the underhood bolts are mismatched. I would get them all the same and get some better hose clamps.

Really nice car!

Like said, I'd get rid of ALL that pump to carb "stuff"..... rubber hose, filter, gauge, etc. Just put in a factory hard line, MUCH cleaner look. Get rid of the overflow tank and use one from a midyear Camaro, they look factory. (Well I guess they are in a way) If you want to keep the gauges inside, hide them in the glove box. (There when you need them)

And again, NICE car!

after sleeping on it all night....i have the trailer and the dually parked out in front of my house....i'm going to call a shipping company....its too far of a trip....our dually has 130K on it....and if i get stuck on the way back with the car inside the trailer....i'd be really stressed out....we were going to try and make it back and forth in 5 days...i'll keep ya posted...thanks

If I'm truly picking on it.....

Outlining doesn't seem 100% okay or the doors look like they're painted in another color.

but $31k.....nice deal anyway :)

What are brembo's? A couple of things caught my eye. The stud/latch that holds the door shut looked unusual.
Hard to tell from the photos, but looks like the chassis black had been sprayed on things that maybe shouldn't be painted/ brake lines, wires, and shocks. You will know when you see it in person. Could be shadows in the photos.
Very nice ride. That is my favorite year.
If that is armour all on the seats, that stuff drives me insane.
I have no doubt you're going to love it.

Sweet car, congratulations. I agree with a previous post, I would replace ALL those rubber fuel lines and filter with hard lines and/or steel braided, why risk a fire. Otherwise, I wouldn't change a thing.

Also, on the brakes, I added front discs to my 69 Chevelle, but I drive a 64 C10 truck everyday in Atlanta traffic with non-power-assisted drums on all four wheels, and it's totally fine. I don't drive like a teenager anymore (speeding, tailgating, swapping lanes) and the stock brakes, when rebuilt properly with quality components, are totally free of drama.

I noticed 1967 gauges and the dome light looked as if it were installed backwards.
Looks good, enjoy driving it.

Shift handle and ball, anchor points for seat belts, washer bottle, hood ground clip, washer squirters, exit of exhaust pipes & hangers, arm rests. for some reason all the photos wouldn't load for me, this is just from the photo's above. Oh and the mounting of the alternator and that funny sticker of the valve covers

Aug 14th, 08, 9:13 PM
i've got a post under "wheels and tires"....i like rally wheels but i'm not sure what size to get......those wheels that are on there now are 17x8 and the tires are 255's i really like rally wheels with letter tires

What are brembo's?

These are brakes used on high end European sports cars, Z06 corvettes, and the new Dodge Challengers. The best ones you can get on a factory built car.

I like the 17s, but the car really needs to be lowered to pull off that look.

Uh, yeah,.........Mike who posted the photos was the owner of the car, Why don't you ask him directly? That would be better than the rest of us guessing.

Looks very nice, like the others i am not fond of the fuel line, exhaust is too close if not rubbing the drivline as is the parking brake cable. Wish mine was that nice!

Contact your seller about the rims, Wayne. He showed us the set that came off your car, they were stacked on the side in his shop.

I agree, I think it's the best option look for the 66 model year, although not everyone likes the look.
I was at the GU show with my 66 , I was near my car talking to someone when two guys come up and start talking about the car... one says "why would you take a beautiful car and throw wheels like that on it... it ruins the whole car"

i think you have to be a real purist to have the dog dish rims.....i can also see if your car is completely stock.....i like nice rims on a car....i mean i'm not into "spinners" or "22's" or anything.....i really like the rally wheels.....i think they have almost become "stock" since they been used for so long and are on so many Chevelles.....there's one car for sale on Ebay now that has 17's on the rear and 16's on the front....i'll have to check out a bunch of cars first before make my decision

Nope. If I was to venture a guess, I would say it was a 360 horse car, the POP shows a Holley carb...did they use the cast iron Holley on the 325 hp cars??

Nice car, you probably couldn't build it for what you paid for it so enjoy it.

Fix the fuel line, exhaust and brakes. I don't have a problem with the gauges under the dash; that's where mine are and I like to be able to easily see them to keep an eye on things.

I like it! As mentioned, ditch the rubber fuel line and I would add disc brakes to the front. What I haven't heard from anybody is that the emergency brake cable is threaded under the exhaust pipes and over the driveshaft. Looks to be right on the driveshaft all the time. I'd guess that you are going to saw through the cable or maybe the driveshaft eventually. I'd be proud to own that 66
