I just re-did the booster and master on the chevelle. Now just a few months later, there is surface rust forming on the master. What do you do to keep it from rusting? Is there a paint color for it? Its really annoying.

Thanks

Joe,

Spray it with DULL CLEAR or a light coat of SPRAY GRAY from Eastwood.

you could paint is cast blast and that should match pretty well. In my opnion, I would wipe it down with WD-40 every fall and spring.

About twice a year I spray 3 in One on a rag and wipe it down, and it keeps it looking brand new all the time.

i just got that engine paint they sell at all the autoparts stores. they sell it in a clear, which looks pretty good on a master, except the top, that looks best gold

Eastwood's Stainless Steel High Temp Coating works great on master cylinders and cast iron exhaust manifolds and looks just like original cast iron.

It will need to be redone after 20 years or so though.
I brushed it on my master cylinder and exhaust manifolds in 1986 and it is starting to show a little rust now.

I don't recommend clearcoat. I painted several items in clear and you will actually see the metal turn an orange tint (rust) underneath.

I think cast iron paint looks fake. Cast iron has different subtle shades and hues, and the paint just doesn;t capture that. I like the 3 in 1 idea myself.

Mine has done the same thing but unfortunately it was at the paint shop when the rust formed. What is the best way to clean it off to make it look good again?

Oh I'm sorry, I obviously did it "wrong". I retract my advise :noway:
