There is a 12v switched wire from the back of my fuse panel to my firewall mounted starter solenoid, it's a white briaded fiberish sheith over a very small gauge wire. It's not on any of the fuse panel circuits. Anyone know where this thing is hooked into...on the fuse panel, into the ignition switch???
It's holding up the fire up on my new EFI set up.
Thanks everyone

Doesn't that go to the coil? It's a resistor wire so the coil does not get a full 12V

Yes that would be the resistor wire to the coil. You wont need it if your not running a points ignition.
It feeds from the IGN fuse.

I don't know about Beaumonts but on my Chevelle the resistive wire to the coil doesn't feed from the IGN fuse, it feeds from the bulkehead connector and comes from the ignition switch.
It does sound like the cloth like covered resistive wire but why would it be on the solenoid when it's supposed to be feeding the + side of the coil?
For that matter, why is the solenoid on the firewall?

To answer the question about why I've got a solenoid mounted on the firewall... My good freinds owned the car before me and I'm noticing more and more it seems that they kinda mickey moused some of the wiring etc... I think they mounted a solenoid on the fire wall to help avoid hot starting prolems... I still get those issues every once and a while.
So my next question is this, I'm not running a points ignition so is there anyway to eliminate this wire so it doesn't set my car on fire. Which now has inspired me to invest in a fire extinguisher for all of my vehicles.
Thanks for the help everyone.

It might be the bypass wire that feeds 12 volts from the solenoid to the coil. It is switched on only while the starter is turning. This is to give a boost to the coil during cranking. Again if you are not using points you would not need this wire.
