Hi, I want get a little more compression out of my bone stock '71 402 w/ 8.5:1CR. I already have to take off my heads and get someone to open up the spring pockets for my cam, but I'm thinking maybe while I'm at it, I can get rid of my open chambered "820" heads. Can someone recommend a cast head number I can look into, or maybe just some decent heads including aluminum? thanks. Eric

Stock casting numbers to look for are 063,215,290
I've done this twice before to 71/72 402's..wakes 'em right up,especially with a cam.

I have a set of 290 heads I am replacing with a set of new aluminum heads. They have 2.19 intake,1.88 exhaust valves. Mild porting and have about 3000 miles on them. They are in great shape, just looking to loose a little weight and maybe pick up a little more H.P. What are they worth?

What makes those specific heads more desirable?

As for aftermarket aluminum heads, Edelbrock 60499 are 100cc and would bump your compression a bit.
