Yeah, a little nerve racking after only seeing pictures but that Chevelle you bought looks a hell of alot nicer than the Goat! I took a friend with me (paid for his ticket) and it was the best road trip I'd ever been on! Not to mention after 2000 miles I really got to "bond" with the car. Bishop73 Aug 11th, 08, 2:38 PM You could try uship.com. They are used by Ebay and will get you quotes from a large number of transports. Bunz-T Aug 11th, 08, 4:02 PM When considering driving or open transport look at the cold front that has just moved thru Texas and the Southeast. The weather can really play tricks on you and it has really been violent at times on good bit of the route you are going to take. We are having a very unusual cold front for this time of year and when that cold air meets the hot humid air down here Mother Nature comes unwrapped. You're going to regret your decision not to drive that beauty home someday. You only go around once in life and you're taking the no-risk safe way out! You're eventually going to kick yourself in the slats for this. 66 MYSTERY CHEVELLE Aug 13th, 08, 4:05 PM I think you would be a FOOL to drive that car cross country.. Luckily, you bought a beautiful car that doesn't look like it needs much! That 66 at OPGI looks nice from 15 feet, but it's built from all Chinese parts. If you ask me, upon closer inspection it doesn't look right...all the moldings look fake, the grill looks like its as thin as aluminum foil, the bumpers, especially the rear, are iffy at best & there are fisheyes in the paint. Not to sound overly critical (too late?), but how that car won best restoration at SEMA is beyond me. I'm thinkin the fix was in. I never shop at OPGI, but I was in the area, so I actually went by their HQs specifically to see that car. I was talking to one of the guys who works there, & he said nothing on that car is original or NOS, and that it cost $100k to build. $100k of taiwan junk & body work. Yikes. VS 1 Aug 14th, 08, 9:05 AM Hey Nance tell me somemore about the car...I know you've thought of something you forgot to tell me :hurray::hurray:....i've still got 5 days to go before i get it...... Can't think of anything I didn't already mention, Wayne. But, I'm not kidding when I tell you that I've been dreaming about that car being here in my garage! Last night it was that the Chevelle was here, waiting to be loaded up to go to you in CA. The neighbors were all here, going crazy and admiring it. And then I woke up... Oh...hubby just said he remembered Wendell telling us that the rearview mirror might need to be tightened. And, Steve found that the horn cap on the steering column made a little clicking noise when he test drove it...Wendell took it off, noise gone. May need a little adjustment. Hardly worth mentioning! Just think, you have four more days to read and memorize that manual you bought. Stay in touch! Pics, pics, pics...in the trailer, coming off the trailer, in your garage, etc., are all required when the Chevelle arrives. melloyello Aug 14th, 08, 11:29 AM who know's Nance when i'm out of money in 6 months or a year maybe i'll sell it to you :D:D ajcross Mar 19th, 09, 12:51 AM DON"T USE SILVA TRANSPORT!!! I had my 67' shipped from KY. Silva tried for 2 weeks and couldn't move it. I switched to Suncoastautotransport.com and they picked it up the next day. Silva charged $800, but only offered the driver $600. Suncoast charged $950, but paid the driver $800. The driver told me he saw the original posting, but wouldn't do it for $600. As soon as he saw the $800, he jumped on it. Mine was a roller and I bought it site unseen, on Ebay. It was a beautiful site when that truck come around the corner. Good luck! ajcross Mar 19th, 09, 12:53 AM Sorry, I didn't notice the dates! |
