In process of restoring 70 L78 with an original Holley carburetor. Seeking to get a photos or clear diagram tracing out the correct vacuum line layout. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

This may help some, it's from the assembly manual.

Vic, the pic Dale shows is very helpful. You might consider getting the Assembly Manual.

Also, I asked about the TCS system on here before and there were some pics posted of actual cars. Try doing a Search.

EricNot to hijack but there are a couple of interesting things in that thread. The gentleman that had an aftermarket fuel line on his car that he's owned since new and never touched (aside from the routing of the heater hose from the water pump to the intake) and the photo of the 70 LS6 original car with an orange engine lift bracket.

I sent an e-mail to Dennis C. (OrigLS6) asking him to come here and respond as there is a valid explanation for it. He is the original owner of his Fred Gibb Chevrolet LS-6 and can be very helpful.

Cool. That'll be interesting since 'restored' LS6 cars are slammed all the time for an orange engine lift bracket. Makes one wonder if during assembly, sometimes the brackets are painted beforehand in batches and not necessarily painted after installation. Think?

Dale,
As I recall, this IS the original lift bracket that came on the car. One possibility is: the engine had been out of the car for warranty work back in late 1970 at Gibb Chevrolet in LaHarpe. I suppose it's possible they grabbed another bracket off the work bench when the engine went back together but I honestly doubt it. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of the engine when the car was new. For what it's worth, the part number is on the bracket and is correct. I've seen other reportedly unrestored HP cars with orange brackets and have come to accept almost any combination. One of the few things I've learned when dealing with these old cars is to , AT ANY COST, avoid two dreaded words,................... ALWAYS and NEVER.

However, I do tend to agree that a chrome fuel line on a dual feed Holley 'from the factory' is suspect.

Thanks,
Dennis
