Been busy on my ol' Malibu...27yrs stored in a metal container has left me with plenty to do
It's up and running, road legal..and the plan is to keep it on the road and work on it when needed/and funds allow.
Engine bay was pretty tatty...rust and oil leaks in equal quantities..so replaced a few gaskets, splashed on a little paint, installed a few parts...

Wow Steve what a difference, great job! Why didn't you reuse the original air filter?

Sanded the original air-filter to paint, along with the valve cover..its really badly corroded..I bought the chrome one to use with a 390cfm Holley I have mounted on a Clifford intake..I've yet to find Headers. Then I will install.
Picked up the Mercruiser valve cover on Ebay.
Going to replace all steering/suspension joints next...drives ok, but working my way from front to back (in no logical order ) repainting chassis as I go.

This is never going to be a show car...just want a tidy drivable car to enjoy.

Original plan was to swap out the six in favour of a new GM V8 crate motor...gas prices have gone through the roof here in England...around $8.40 gal
So the six has a stay of execution..warmed with a few parts..see how it goes

Hi Ryan, the valve cover thats fitted is "alloy"..bought it to polish, but its 30+yrs old...did'nt look as nice as I'd hoped.. so painted it.

Got a "Cllifford" Valve cover with matching pushrod covers to fit when I get round to fitting my other engine goodies...;)

Been clocking up a few miles in the last few weeks..visiting the last of the shows, before the season ends.
Think I have an overheating problem now..loosing coolant from the radiator overflow pipe when I come to a stop and switch the motor off...any ideas

Lookin' good Steve. I do have one question though. Why is this thread in the Beaumont forum? I'm not meaning to be an A-hole, just curious because the last year for a Beaumont was 69 and your car is clearly a 70 Malibu.

Confused in Canada.

My Grandmother owned a 58 Pontiac Pathfinder 6 cyl 3 on the tree. I drove it as teen. The engine was replaced with the truck Solid FT straight six at one time. It must have had HWY Gears because the Top End was out of this world and if you popped the the clutch it would lay 2 pencil lines with G 75 14's to 60 in 1st gear and some more shifting into 2nd. On one trip I had a 65 Polaris 318 on my tale. I pulled in for gas and shortly after the Polaris rolled in and man said: "Man that Pontiac moves. What's in it, a 409?". When he saw the 6 cyl he got up on the hood of his Polaris and started to jump up and down spouting all sorts of fowl language. The service station attended was mesmerized, where I had a pretty good idea what the guy was experiencing - LOL

Not posted an update for a while.

The old Chevelle has seen plenty of use and racked up plenty of miles since I bought it. :D

Plans to keep the Six cyl engine changed a little.

Now running a new ZZ4 crate motor, rebuilt the trans, new Torque converter.
Although this was never part of the plan, gotta say its a whole lotta fun to drive now.
