Ive got a vortec topend package, here in the classifieds. its a set of vortecs, with new Z 28 springs. extra set of LT4 springs (new), ARP intake bolts, Air gap intake, (eddy knock off), 16 self align rockers. Stock valve covers, ball milled valve covers. its all new. Guys got a 454, bored with Speed pro hyper flattops. comp cams 268 cam. comp springs, 781 heads, milled and stainless valves, rpm intake, no carb (ive got a few) HEI dizzy, stock valve covers. Suppose to have about 30K on the motor. Best part is I can see it running in a truck. Ive got the vortec package listed at 700. He was willing to part with the whole 4x4 for $1000. Im pretty sure if its as good as he says it is. Im going for it, just need to see what the experts say. jim

after sleeping on it, Im thinking of just using the vortecs on my small block already in the car. At least the small block is a known factor, I would hate to bring the motor home and find out the oil pressure stated to drop, cam is wiped or something. Only thing we can do is fire it up and see it run, then pull it. I think the truck has a broken axle so its not drivable. He told me he would break axles/hubs all the time, toasted the 2200 rpm torque converter. It was running 35's now 38's and thinking back on the conversation. it sounds like the motor really was run pretty hard, he also said it takes 15 minutes to warm it up before driving it or it's a bear to drive. Its probably a great deal. but I would hate to get it home and have it break the first time I get on it. Jim

There is a better chance of the trade vehicle continuing to head south than the value advancing. If I needed to sell your stuff I would rather discount it and be done rather than taking on something that has so many apologies already attached. It may not be all of them.

I decided to just keep the vortecs. Im getting to the point of throwing the stuff I dont need away anyway. If I have any money in it, I'll keep it or sell it for what I have into it. if not, its going into the recycle pile. jim

well talked to the guy again tonight. turns out it is in a running and driving truck, He's actually using it as a daily driver. I thought it was broke down. Told me I can stop by his work place or house and check it out. If it runs as good as he says it does, i think my elcamino will be sporting a rat motor pretty soon. jim
