: Rear Disc-Park Brake Set Up

I bought my car with rear disc brakes. I'm told that they are 81 Firebird calipers/rotors. They are mounted in a staggered fashion which tells me that the kit must have been for a staggered rear shock set-up which mine is not. Can't figure how to get a park brake cable system hooked up.
Any thoughts would be helpful. I may have to trash this set-up and order the correct kit. Any suggestions on a complete kit would be appreciated.
Photos are always helpful.

It seems that everyone using those brakes has the same problem - why not just hook up the one side you can access easily and live with only one wheel parking brake? It'll hold the car in 99% + plus cases and a lot easier to make work.

I'm not sure if your setup is similar to mine-late 70's Caddy-but the Caddy setup has staggered shocks also.
On mine the passenger side caliper is forward of the axle-the parking brake comes out to the rear of the car and goes to a bracket near the driver side forward lower control arm mount(long cable)that stops the cable housing while the bare cable goes on to the adjusting bracket forward about 1 1/2 feet
The driver side caliper is rear of the axle(had to move shock mount to make it work)the cable comes out to the front and goes to the adjusting bracket.
It's a pain but it works and it was stupid cheap

Mine is configured the same way. I think the Caddy and Trans Am calipers are the same.
I know that this is a lot to ask....do you have phtos?

If not I appreciate your reply.

Thanks,

jim

I have the same setup on my Firebird. I used the cables that came on the Trans Am setup. The passenger side is a bit long, but I just used a P-clamp to bring it up out sight, cleaned it up a bit. I guess I could go out and pull the wheels and take some pics of mine too, if needed. I need to change an axle seal anyway, good project for the afternoon. I want to see if those 14" slot mags will fit, too. ;)

JC396 I sent you a pm with a link.
I'm curious as to how similar the caddy set up is to the f-body- I use Caddy backing plates ,Caddy calipers and Pontiac Ws6 rotors.
