Hey, I have a metal radio bezel that I picked up in a bone yard way back in the 80's. It fits the '66 Chevelle but I don't remember what I pulled it from. I think it looks much better than the plastic ones but I've never seen another one like it.
Has anyone ever heard of this before?

Not sure if this is a factory piece.

i have never seen a metal one for a 66 chevelle, I have a metal radio delete plate though it is just smooth. The 67 nova's radio pieces look alot like 66-67 chevelles, but I dont know what they are made off.

I found it in the early 80's and it just started to pit. I can't imagine it being anything but a factory part. I just can't be sure where it came from.
Is it possible that GM made another car with a similar dash? I can't remember what the Chevy II looked like.

I believe that the metal radio bezel came with AM/FM cars. I can't verify this but this is what I was told a long time ago. I have two of these. they are virtually identical to the regular plastic radio bezel, but as mentioned look way better. I have one in my car with factory AM/FM radio and multiplex. I also have a spare one that I bought at a swap meet in about 1986 from a guy who was really heavy into collecting 1966, and 1967 Chevelle stuff in the late 70's and 80's. He parted with all of his Chevelles and parts to move on to collecting Hemi Mopar muscle cars. There are some oddball pieces out there that a lot of guys are not familiar with. I also have an early style shift boot for early 1966 chevelle 4-speed console cars that most guys have never seen or knew about.

I have one in my 66 also. Maybe it's a Minnesota thing.

I got a metal 66 bezel with my 67 SS project. I did some digging for info and was told that those were for an aftermarket dealer installed radio...Motorolla I believe.

learn something every day!
So is this a 66 only or are there 67 metal plates also?
