Since New England Dragway is IHRA and you don't need a cage until you hit 11.50 I might buy some new tires. I can't ever, ever hook at all at NED with my 26*10.5 ET streets, but at LVD I hit 1.85, 1.80, 1.85 60' when I went there. I don't know what it is about NED, maybe its because I am always up there at night.
Ok back to my point. If I am going to shell some serious cash for a new set of welds for the rear with enough backspacing (I got these awesome steel wheels that have the right backspacing for like 30 bucks a pop but they need like 1-2mm of clearance for my disc brakes-- do youthink it would be unsafe to grind it out a little?) (my wheels for my 26" tires have like 3.25 BS.. but they were freebies so..).
I heard its not safe to run bias ply rears with radial fronts (or is is really just different types on the same axle/end of the car?) So I am looking at those MT ET Street Radials, they look like you can actually drive them on the street too, the ET Streets/Hoosier Equivalents just look like for strip-only "non-slick" night action.
Anyone using these tires yet? Any reviews? How do they hook?
And if I did get them, I would only get the
3754R†
P275/60R15
R2 32 8 28 X 11.50R15 11.1 8.9 28.0 87
3757R†
P325/50R15
R2 36 10 28 X 13.50R15 13.0 11.0 27.9 82
I run p315/35R17 BFG's on my car, and when I measure them with a ruler, I get 12.5". Why Does the P325 MT list its "tread width" as 11"? Does that mean I could stuff one of those under my car?
And is 30" too tall to fit under a chevelle?
If you ask me MT picked some weird sizes for these tires.
Or should I just get regular ET Streets or the hoosier equivalents? I see alot of folks stuffing 28*12.5" w/ a 5 or 5.5(?) BS under their cars.
It's just I don't think that ET streets/hoosier eqivalents are appropriate to drive around with for a while, while these tires look to me like MT's answer to BFG drag radials.. or are they better drag tires than those?
Matt
Thanks guys!
I know I am driving some of you nuts but, nobody in my immediate family drag races.
