I have a chance to buy a 70-72 monte carlo 10 bolt posi rear end with 373 gears, can anyone tell me if this is a direct exchange into a 69 chevelle???it has a 10 bolt with 411 gears in it now.

Same-same.......there's a chance the Monte rear has an 8.5" ring gear. So, besides the gear ratio change, you could be getting a stronger rear end. I believe some of the later 1st gen Monte's got an 8.5" 10 bolt.

If the monte rear is 8.5 and your original 8.2 then the driveshaft will need to be shortened 1". The 8.5 has a 1" longer snout than the 8.2 and the 12 bolt, I just did the swap myself and had to modify the driveshaft. other than that they bolt right in.
