I saw a commercial for this power tool that was kind of a vibrating saw that you could use for everything...like cutting tile/grout, cutting carpet, etc. Reminded me of an electric knife, or a big electric clipper.

Any ideas?

looks pretty cool. seems kind of expensive.
I don't think I would be worried about the price if the tool had a name like milwaukee, dewalt or porter cable on it.

Yeah.. I've seen that.... It reminds me of all the times I had my cast removed from my ankle.

Hey Tom...still using that X-member you gave me  :beers:

It is expensive...but it is German at least. Looks like a quality piece. I wish I could get it local so that it there was a problem I could return it w/o too much hassle.

The Fein Multimaster is a very high end piece. Fein makes top end tools. If you have a local Woodcraft store they will either have it or can get it for you.

i'm sure you can get something that is supposed to be similar with a Black and Decker logo on it at Wal Mart for under $40.

I have used one of these on a tile job I did a couple years ago (a buddy of mine who is a tile contractor loaned it to me). The thing was phenomenal! I was able to undercut door jambs, cut tile, cut grout, and numerous other things. I have to admit, I had sticker shock when I saw the price when I finally stumbled across one a while back at a high end wood working shop. Definitely not a tool for the casual "do it your-selfer" but if you do any amount of in-depth work, this is one very slick tool to have in your arsenal!
