Hi All,
I am again a Chevelle owner... specifically a 69. I owned a 69 SS396 for 8 years previously, but sold it before my first daughter was born in 2002. Its nice to have one in my garage again, and this one is much more solid and much more fun than the SS396 was.
To make a long story short, my brother bought this back in 1995, sold it to my best friend in 97, who ran into money problems and sold it to me last month. He rarely took it out, so its pretty much been in hiding for the past 11 years.
I posted about this being a probable COPO on sYc (some pics in the thread too) (http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/346887/an/0/page/0#Post346887).
My brother had traced the owners back to the 2nd owner, who had it from 1970 - 78 or so. One of the first things out of his mouth was "did you know this was a 427 car?", which we already suspected because of the KQ rear and lack of emblems. He claims to have a box of "things", which I will try to pursue again... need to entice him somehow. So far none of us have been able to turn up a build sheet.
The car was stolen from the first owner, and the second owner bought it from the insurance company and installed a 396 and 4 speed from a 67 SS Chevelle, which is still in it. My friend and I rebuilt the motor back in 98, it has under 1,000 miles on it since then. The car just turned 40,000 miles, and is a blast to drive.
Anyway... my dream car since the start of college, since selling my 69 Impala after high school, has been a 69 Chevelle. It feels so good to have one again. Just got done checking it over, adjusted the valves, shifter, brakes... tuned it up... tightened everything up... all ready to cruise, and getting ready for the ACES show here in Cleveland.
I'll have to check into how to post pictures on here.
And by the way, you guys have an awesome website. I've already spent hours browsing the forums, and I'm sure will spend many more hours here.
Bob
