Thats what a real deer looks like Andrew, a big old midwest buck, your probably used to seeing those little want a be flea ridden deer, about the size of a small anemic looking german shepard.:D

Either he's really smart or lucky if he sticks around. The area is residential. I hit one 2 years ago that was about 100# heavier. Will see how he fattens up with the corn.

The way the gas prices are, he has a better chance of making it to deer season.

We hunt about 20 miles North of Two Rivers, and its corn field city, you get one of those corn fed yearlings, butterfly those loins, a couple beers to get the appetite up, thats where its at.

Keep us posted on how he turns out Dave. Nice picture.

Man hearing you talk about those butterflies makes me just about drool for a nice salty deer steak right now!!! Yummy!

I grew up hunting, but I don't chase bucks really....especially after my "one that got away" a few years ago...my dad has bagged I bet 150 deer, and 11 Elk, and most of those with an old recurve bow....so he's seen LOTS of deer....and the one I *chose* to not shoot (long story!) he said "that's the biggest deer I've ever seen, bigger than any of the big muley's I've seen even....you'll remember that for the rest of your life." It's been 5 years now, I can still picture the base of that rack as it ran away, and me holding off on the shot...the size of it's chest, was just unreal. Part of the reason I didn't shoot was the thought that crossed my mind--"I bet he tastes like shoe leather" -after that, it's just kind of like "ehh, I'll just shoot a doe" :) Dad was right.

Very cool picture, I always wanted to try one of those cameras! Thanks for posting.
