When a company is given a monopoly on a product without proper supervision, they tend to gouge the consumer. Sounds like this is what happened with NHRA and VP fuels. Apparently there isn't a shortage of the product, just a shortage of "official" suppliers.:(

Why can't the teams just buy their nitro from wherever they like? Why do they have to buy it through NHRA sactioned suppliers? That's just stupid.

Why not just make sure no one can have an exclusive contract with one supplier or another? That way no one would have an advantage that's not available to everybody else. Sometimes sanctioning bodies are their own worst enemy.

Besides, why not drop the nitro altogether and go back to gas which will slow them down somewhat and then they can reinstate the 1320 for top fuel and funny.

If they dropped nitro all together, they prolly couldn't even get into the 5's anymore they'd lose that much power. I don't think anyone wants to see them that "slow". I sure don't anyway...

Just run the all on alky............... A good alcohol car can run 5.30s and with the technology they'd gain if everyone was doin' it they'd be in the 4s before long.

If they quit runnning nitro, I would quit going. The sensations of a nitro motor running down the track can't be matched by alcohol or gas. I guess if you're there for to enjoy the competion of it all, then they could run what ever they want, but for me, the thrill is in watching, hearing, smelling and feeling the power, and seeing the drivers/crews harness it. Who wins the race is secondary. Probably why I like going on Saturday better.

I saw that on a t-shirt

at the state fair.:p

I agree. It's part of the experience. I think we should make the races 1/2 mile since you could bet more for your dollar then.
