I dont get it, you put an ad in then when interested people send an Email for either more pictures or info the party doesnt reply. Had this happen more than once:confused: NSF

Inquire to the "interested people" why no response.
Might find out something about your ad ,the pics, the info that's deterring them and could help you out by knowing what turned them off.
sometimes it's just a matter of they didn't like/understand the info or what's shown in the pic isn't what they want.
Ask.

To clarify; I have tried to contact a seller through his Email and NO RESPONSE. I really dont want to talk just yet but I would like more info and better pictures because the featured ads only allows 3 pics. This would be the first step so to speak. I dont understand why I get no reply (and I've tried 3 times) NSF

How long has it been since you first tried? Seller might just be busy or doesn't check frequently.

Its been about 2 weeks, I figured he may just not checkin too often but if I was trying to sell a car and had it advertised I would be checking it out!! He's probably got more money than he knows what to do with cause i feel he's overpriced in this gloomy economic climate!!!!!!! NSF

Yeah I hear you! I tried to buy a couple of golf carts on Ebay but could get no response whatsoever from the seller to answer a couple of questions, THEY LOSE I guess. Its a really nice looking ELKY but he wants too much anyways and I'm thrifty to say the least, I like to call it WISE though!! NSF

To be devil's advocate, he probably figured that if you weren't interested enough to pick up the phone and make a phone call, it probably was a waste of time to respond.

If there's something I'm really interested in buying, I'll pick up the phone and make a phone call. Maybe I'm old school, but it gets things done immediately. If you really think about it, it took more effort to type in your post, and reply a couple times, than it would have to just call the man about the seats (not being smart, please don't take it that way).

On the selling end, you can't imagine how many people send e-mails or pm's that say simply "pics", "pics please", or "more pics". I figure that if I've already taken 3 to 8 pictures, and posted them, a buyer can get the idea of the condition of the item.

In the instance you posted above, I would assume that 3 pictures of the car would probably be adequate to get a general idea. If I were the seller, I'd probably get a little frustrated if someone wanted a ton of pictures of an item without making the effort on their part to call me.

Again, not trying to be disrespectful or abrasive, just giving you a view from the other side.

Understood fully, I guess the lookie-los are a pain arent they? From my end of it, when you are a thousand miles apart it is very difficult for me as i am buying a car that will be for me, not for turn over so how else do you get to see the whole car. Some of the retailers do such a fabulous job on the picture end of it that there is little left to the imagination. I guess I'll call the guy if that will make the difference, thanks. NSF

We get a surprising number of email inquiries bounced back to the server when the seller doesn't update their email address. Nothing we can really do, some we try to contact via PM to tell them the email is invalid but it sure burns up the time.

It's quite possible the email to them never arrived, especially if it was sent via our "contact" form.

You got that right!!

Lots of Photo Collectors out there.. I agree, if you are interested.. Pick up the phone!! You are under no obligation/contract to buy anything because you call..;)

and yes, some guys just post.. sell right away and then never respond to the many emails they get once it has been sold.

Not sure if you are talking about my particular overpriced elky... You replied asking if it was possible to add ac to the car... if you don't know and have to ask "what can be added" to the car, maybe you shouldn't be buying a classic car at all. Do your research first, then call or e-mail.

I get a lot of e-mails regarding my ad's- a lot of them are time wasters So i don't pay that close attention to them unless it looks like the person is serious.

If you really are serious- then just pick up the phone and call- thats what the number is there for.

Sorry if i brushed you off and you were serious- But from your "overpriced" comments it sounds like you don't want to pay what I want for it anyway... Bad economy or not- Good luck finding another 138x SS elk in the condition mine is in for the price.

Sitting around with more money than I know what to do with-

Nope not talking about you Ben, you replied right away which was greatly appreciated, your ELKY is not overpriced IMO. I did some checking and not being really a top notch mechanic i found that adding A/C is quite a little job, more than I wanted to do and a little more costly than you stated but thats neither here nor there. Also because of where i live with the extreme heat I have doubts about add on a/c. IF you feel i wasted your time then thats too bad for it was not my intention and you shouldnt get all butt hurt. I am one who likes to talk about/or with anybody I can about all cars as the more info the better. I have had some nice cars from the past but it has been awaile so I'm learning all over again basically. Sincerely, NSF

Sorry for the overreaction on my part.

With the car market the way it is, there are a lot of flakes and lowballers out there right now- If you are a serious buyer, you need to be aware that you've got these other guys calling, distracting and annoying sellers too... Sellers who ARE a little "buttsore" tying to sell cars in this market. So ask good questions, be to the point- and sellers will know you are serious, not just another flake wasting their time.

So the best advice has already been given- Pick up the phone and call the guy.
