comp 280 mag series hydraulic
1.5 -1 full roller rockers

441ft/lbs peak TQ from 3500RPM to 4000RPM

388HP@5000RPM

I use the flow values from Car Craft's database, but the closest I could find was the Perf RPM 72cc head.

yeah desktop dyno seems to come up way short when predicting numbers, usually way under the actual numbers.

Actually, I've heard it is somewhat optimistic in its' predictions. I don't have my motor installed in my car yet, so I can't tell you how close it really is. I've also heard from other people it is accurate at predicting power curves.

Desktop Dyno says my smooth-idle 400 is making 475 horsepower.

I'd say Desktop Dyno is good for about one evening's worth of laughs. Then you give the disc to someone else.

Far as I know, all Edelbrock carbs all use a secondary air valve, and therefore should be considered "vacuum secondary".

three85stroker, ive put "dyno tested" motors in there from various sites, and have never been able to reproduce their results within 50hp or 50ft/lbs ;)

this would be a safe bet........that combo even in rough tune should easy put down 320-350 hp to the ground ...........

Chadwick, did those "dyno-tested" motor you plugged in happen to be dyno'd on the Westech dyno? Dyno'd for a magazine, if so, that's probably an engine dyno'd by Westech.

Westech has been known to play with the dyno to make it read higher, for customer satisfaction, etc.

I think Mike Lewis got to dyno an engine on his conservative dyno and it somehow lost quite a bit of power between L.A. and Nor. California.

So don't judge any dyno's #'s against Westech, that's not a fair comparison

Now, Now,,, I didn't mention any particular facilities,, just that it was a well known Southern CA facility :D
And this particular engine was dynoed at three different places, mine, another in the SF bay area that were within about 10 or 15HP (mine happened to be the lowest) & the third in that "special LA air" where it was only about 70 so higher as I recall, I have the actual numbers around here somewhere,,, graemlins/sad.gif
The numbers were about 670HP on mine & about 750HP in LA??
BTW, the engine was 332 inches

DeskTop Dyno,,, I personally feel it is more entertaining than PacMan :D

I just had a similar motor built and dynoed this summer. It's a 406 as you can probably see at the bottom of this post. Nothing special parts wise, but it really rips! Torque is aman's best friend.

thanks red.. Yeah I am pretty impressed with this motor thus far..I was figuring around 450 with this combo, whether thats a bit optimistic I dunno, but Edelbrock claims 420 hp with the same heads, induction, and similar cam on a 10.0-1 355. I figure with a bit more cam, compression and 28 more cubes I should get close to 450 HP. Ihave had several very knowledgable builders claim I should get that easily outta this motor. COurse I am already looking for ways to get ore out of it.. maybe a 292 Magnum, and a mild port job....thanks guys graemlins/thumbsup.gif
