My car is a 66 with a 489, 781 ovals ported 2.19/1.88 valves, RPM Airgap intake, 870 Holley 1 7/8 headers, MSD ignition, 10:1, 2500 stall maybe more(flashes higher) 3.55 gear(could change), 2 1/2 inch Flowmaster Exhaust.
Would this cam be too much for my 489? It right now has a Comp 280H in it with .520 lift seems small compared to the Vodoo cams.
I have a vacuum canister so that is not an issue. Stall speed I'm not going to change. It has tons of grunt but is not real snappy seems to peak at 6000 maybe less.

Is this a solid?
I'll leave the specifics to Harold but in my opinion if you are talking about the older 276/284 solid, it would be a puppy in a 10.0 489. but would make a ton more power than what you have.
I would go with the 402A4, 282/292, 248/255,
.570/.586/
or even the A5, 285/295, 252/261, .595/.595

276/284 and @ .50, 233/241 lift .554/.572 110/106
It is a hydraulic cam. I got the info here http://www.holley.com/voodoocams/Cams.htm
Mike are those solid cams that you suggested?

That cam is a VooDoo 276 for the BBC, and it is a tad (or more!) hotter than my old 288/286H10. The 2 cams are rated at different ramp heights, but the .050"s have the correct releationships. A 10:1 489 with this cam ought to be good for 525 BHP at 5800, or more on less conservative dynos. It should be pulling OK by 2500. It makes enough BHP on the top-end you need 1/2" #8 gas lines and a good high-volume mech pump.
The cams Mike were suggesting are solids, and very streetable.

UDHarold how far back to the tank do you have to go with the 1/2 fuel line? Can you use the stock sending unit 1970-1972 chevelle? Thanks in advance. Please see my post Cam Change.
Gary.
