Well yesterday my Son and I heard his 331 run for the first time. The cam broke in nice, engine temps didn't exceed 190. Oil pressure stayed at 50 psi at around 2000 while the cam was breaking in, and ended up being 35 psi at 850 rpms idle warm. Cranking compression is 180 psi with the bores and rings fresh. It had about 11 inches of vacume at 850 rpm idle but I'm sure it will be better with an exhaust system and more tuning.
This little engine sounds nasty, shakes the engine stand pretty hard at idle. Tonight I'll finish installing the stiffer valvesprings and stud girdles. And change the oil and inspect the filter. We only cracked it to 3500 a few times since the breakin springs were weak but she sure seems to spin nice. Now we just need to finish the rest of the car. A friend is stopping tonight to get a video clip, I'll post the link to it so you guys can hear this thing. NICE graemlins/beers.gif

Glad it's running and everything went smoothly. It's nice when things go well.
