: "Musclecar" knuckleheads
Brian_d Aug 5th, 08, 12:15 AM Anyone watch musclecar this weekend & watch then fab up some front inner fenders for red sled? They radiused the fenders to clear the tires by 3/4 an inch all the way around. Now how do they think they're gonna steer that thing?!?
Jim Mac Aug 5th, 08, 12:25 AM didnt they let all the air out of the airbags and set it on its bumpstops? Maybe when they pump it up, they get the clearance. jim
rianbechtold Aug 5th, 08, 12:51 AM Not only that, but they looked like crap!
They showed the inner fender as if it was perfect but the fender's wheelwell is not flat to the ground, it is contoured out! When they held it up you could see the HUGE gap! I've seen that trick with the trailer fenders before for a roadster but any car that has contoured or curved fenders, it doesn't work!
quikss Aug 5th, 08, 11:31 AM Yup, they said they set the car at the lowest point of suspension travel and then gave it 3/4" clearance from there. I don't see where they would have any problem at all with it.
As far as the contour goes, by the time it is done, I will bet large money the inner fenders fit the outer fenders perfectly. Rick is one hell of a bodyman, obviously in a 30 minute show they can't show nearly everything they want to.
Now for the bigger question. What the HELL happened to Courtney Hanson? She looks brutal!!!!

Is that brutal in a good way or bad way??
I thought she looked pretty hot about 2 weeks ago. Did something change from then??

Yeah, he made it a point that they lowered the suspension all the way out. But they never showed the view of it pumped back up from the face of the tire...looked like a huge gap. Neat idea of the trailer fender though, I'll have to remember that one!
Ditto on Hanson...she was pretty smokin two weeks ago and now she looks like she got in a scuffle. Maybe her and the new girl from Overhaulin' got into it, we can only hope, right? :D
Brian_d Aug 5th, 08, 2:45 PM But even if they air up the suspension, wouldn't the tire still hit the inner fender at the front & rear with that tight of a radius?
Jim Mac Aug 5th, 08, 5:35 PM probably not, because they will probably finish trim the backs before its all done. The stuff they show on tv is just for show. That piece will probably be worked over for a few days. Next time you see it, it will magically fit perfect, If they do a looking back episode, they might flash over how much work it really took.
These shows are great, but if you've never did any of the stuff they do on the show, you dont realize how much work is involved. I think they said it takes over a week of filming to get enough footage for a 30 minute show. Thats including 12 minutes of commercials. jim

Dyed her hair blonde and added 15 pounds to her face. I said to my wife she looks like she got stung by a bee and was allergic to it. Man she looked swelled up. Maybe shes knocked up?

I was thinking that also, they dropped it to the lowest height. However, it will still have suspension travel at that height.
Then I realized, they may have the system set up where the only time you can lower to that height is when it is parked, for show.
MikeH Aug 6th, 08, 9:05 AM Maybe shes knocked up?Jeff
sorry, I didnt mean to. really, I dialed in 12 seconds and planned to let out of it at the end, but I run 11:40. you know what happens when your times are off.

Good point, I would imagine there's some kind of safety device that won't allow it to bottom out. Or maybe it's an elaborate scheme to get us to tune in next week so we can figure it out! hehe
Chris R Aug 6th, 08, 9:54 PM I noticed the same thing with Courtney myself. I see im not the only one.
I believe they werent actually finished with that inner fender at the end of the show were they? It was a creative idea to use trailer fenders for that project though.
Alwhite00 Aug 6th, 08, 10:13 PM Mini truckers have been doing that exact same thing since they first started lowering them.
LK
Pitbully Aug 7th, 08, 1:48 PM OR drop it low but some scrap metal and drag the rear end sparks behind...
