I am converting my 1970 from a bench to buckets. The cores were from a 71 Monte Carlo and refinished to match the 70 interior. I bought the bucket seat conversion brackets from OPGI. The left rear outer on both sides sit high, about the same height as the new bracket on the inner side. Are there different types of brackets between Montes and Chevelles? Is there another bracket to be placed for the rear outer??? I attached photos of my dilemma? . . . .
The rear outer mount for the bucket seat uses the existing original threaded hole in your floorpan. I believe Monte Carlo seats are identical to Chevelle seats. Is it possible that you installed the inner bracket backwards? I did the same conversion about five years ago and had purchased the same brackets you have there. Before I did the swap I found better quality mounting brackets at Goodmark and ended up using the Goodmark brackets but I dont think that is your problem. Is it even possible to install them backwards? I cant tell from your pictures but there is a separate mount bracket for just the front outer. Do you have those installed?

Well my friend you are in luck as I finished installing my bracket yesterday. Much to my surprise you only use the very back outside hole and in the front you should have got two other brackets that you couldn't figure out what they where for. So they go in the front and will fill up your space. Some advice. When you bolt the back outside on each seat line them up straight to locate all the other brackets. besides looking thru the door windows align them to look right thru the back glass as well. Good luck. If can help further just PM me.

Hey TC, thanks for the info. You know the brackets I got didn't have the other pieces you mentioned, so now I see in them in another sales catalog, they are small studded brackets. I take the raised end on the bracket goes to the front? I am going to have to chase down those other brackets!
Much to my surprise you only use the very back outside hole
TC: It's been a while since I did this so I'm not sure if I'm recalling this correctly but I thought you used the very back ( inner ) hole as if the outer of the two holes is selected your seat will be too close to your lap belt assembly.
Here you go. A photo of my brackets. I used a string from bolt hole to bolt hole to align my inner brackets.

I just posted a set of Cutlass buckets for sale on Team Chevelle. There is a picture that shows where the springs go. Cutlass seats are the same.
