At a crossroads here guys....I originally planned on using a PG in my project, but now i got a good th350 core, and i cant decide which one i should build up to put behind my mouse. Im not sure if the steeper first gear of the th350 will help or hinder my short times because of my 4.88 rear. Im thinkin i should just stick with the PG, but i guess i just want some opinions on what you guys think would be better for my ETs. It will also be driven considerably on the street come springtime, but ETs are my main concern. What would you do if you were me? Any input is appreciated.

When I ran 4.88s, I would shift into second at about 30 feet with my th350. I now have 4.30s and I sift just past the 60'. My 60's are quicker now that I run it all in 1st gear. Even with this said, I think you will have quicker times with the th350 and if you run much converter, the temp will stay lower on the street.

well, if you keep the PG you will not have to worry about a lot of tire spin, if any do to is 1.82 first.

with that much gear the glide would probable be best ,if it was just track i would not change to turbo the glide will diffently be more consitent

If you plan to drive it on the street the TH350 would be much nicer -- just go with a 4.11 gear instead of the 4.88's. Its not that bad to change gears . . . couple hundred for a set of gears and about the same to set them up.

If changing gears is out of the question, I'd just keep the PG

What rpm will you be shifting at? Do you use the nitrous? How tall of a tire? The Nitrous might actually like a 4.11 or 4.56 even with the glide.

i say go with the PG they are lighter internally, less reciprocating mass, which translates to less load on the engine, they usually run quicker than a three speed because the engine remains in its peak torque band longer, winding thru that low# first gear. but i would consider a ratio other than the usual 1.76 like the 1.82 or 1.9?
be advised a t-350 i think...has a 2.75 low gear, and with that 4.88 rear you may have some challenge's
