Thats no prank gone wrong - thats pure aholes that caused injury and should have their butts whooped in a public arena. Lord if I were the father and found out who it was i'd be breaking knees.

i totally agree. a few months back i took a baseball bat and chased off a car load of idiots. they had made cutouts of cats and glued dimes to them to reflect light in the eyes, and had placed them up and down my street at 2 in the a.m.

i'm telling you, if my kid would have been involved in either of these incidents, they'd be walking funny for quite a while.....

But Andy, we've been doing this to you for years :D

That's not a prank in my opinion. A prank is a gag that has no intent to harm others. This is grounds for attempted manslaughter I think. Tampering with stop signs could have only lead to an accident, which could have lead to death.

Yeah the "prank" does not fit here.

Pranks are meant to be funny and maybe make a friend a little mad or something, no possibly kill someone.

Not a prank at all, it would not be a surprise if they wanted an accident to happen. Why else take the signs down.
That is a felony and people have gone to jail for it!

Before they get those signs in, they would make nice whippin' sticks.

Similar incident done in my town BY THE POLICE:

They turned off the stoplights - then watched and waited in the parking lot (3 or 4 squad cars) and pulled over anyone that didn't come to a stop.

Stupid way to make money, and adds an element of danger to the corner not needed IMO.

If you come up on a blind intersection and there are no stop signs, shouldn't you stop anyway?!?!

There is a high fence at the corner.

Maybe the mom needs to learn to drive.

The owner of the fence should also have to take down his fence. Makes an unsafe intersection.

flame suit on.:D

The intersection didn't have "stop" painted on the ground?!?!?

Here in the midwest we have this stuff called snow, perhaps you have heard of it. Painting on the roads doesn't do much good 6 months of the year. ;)

Back in the old days, we would put a purse filled with newspaper and attach fishing line to it. When someone would stop, and reach down for the purse, we would pull the line and laugh our butts off. That's a prank, the link provided...is no prank.

I would be willing to bet that the dumbazzes that did this were hiding and watching when the wreck happened. Hopefully they will be caught.

I think the opposite. I think it is a couple teenagers that thought they were being funny by taking down the stop signs and never even rationalized what could happen by these actions.

I remember about 10 years ago. The same thing happened and made national news when some people were killed in a crash. Some teens did it. I believe one of them came forward and they caught the rest of them and tried them in court as adults. Dont recall what thier sentence was but it wasnt light.

I always thought the rope trick(you tube it if you've never seen it) was funny until some kids did it on my street and a car plowed into another car that had stopped:sad:

Some local teens near here a few years back took down the "road closed" signs and construction cones where the county was putting a new culvert in a road... The guy who drove into it ended up paralized if I remember correctly.

When I was a kid, I read a book by Henry Gregor Felson. Hot Rod was the name I think. In the book some kids did the same thing. It caused some deaths. Funny how a person never forgets stuff like that.

If you're new to the area how would you know if it's a blind intersection and you have the right of way?

Out this way, most intersections do NOT have "STOP" painted on the roadway.

Do I really have to explain a blind intersection?

Then sue the city for not painting "stop".:D

No apologies needed, just the explanation, as you had me completely confused there:D

I know the long day as well. Yesterday started out at 4:30 am and I was about to wrap it up at 9:30 pm when my work van blew a front left tire at 75 mph. That sucked

No way blame can be laid on anyone but whoever took down the sign. Whoever that is needs to take responsibility for their action. I cant even imagine what their trigger might have been.

I felt something was about to go wrong and switched lanes, if I hadn't I would have pounded my van into the center concrete dividing wall.

No real harm at all, darn close to needing a new pair of knickers though  ;)

Cannot pursue litigation because it's not in the State Law, except in certain circumstances.
