When is this guy going to learn? I can understand why JGR would let this guy out of his contract, after all of his temper tantrums and two year old outbursts, I would want him the heck out of my shop too.
The thing that I find interesting, I love how he tries to buy his way out of his troubles, he offers to buy new radios and uniforms for the track officials after he smacks a radio off an official’s head. This guy needs help, real bad. I hope he has a great hospitalization at his new shop, he needs to be institution. Get this guy off the track and into a hospital. Great role model.

Mike, you make it sound like he beat the gut over the head or something and it was not much worse than some thing I have seen in base ball between a manager and a ref!
Stuff like this has been happening since the begining of racing. It just get so much more coverage now than it did in the past.
There are also incidents that never get reported because those involved are not concidered news worthy as they are not the big names.
If having passion about ones sport is a bad thing why bother at all?
It is great to see that the pussification of racing hasn't taken over everyone yet!

Since when does passion have to do with going after an official? Your mixing up passion with 2-year-old games, this supposed to be man, can’t handle himself at the age of 40? Something is wrong with him, mentally. Your right drivers have going after other drivers since racing has begun but why pick on an official? Why? He used to go after other drivers but they began fighting back and he quickly stopped his crap with them. The pussification has hit Tony the worst; he takes his frustrations out on cameramen and officials anyone who does that, is a dirt bag in my eyes. I think he brings nothing to racing but a cryin little b$%ch tantrums.

Tony does take it to extremes. BUT, after the crap this past weekend, NASCAR is wearing the black eye. I think if Goodyear sent them studded snow tires, they'd say "run em". Somebody at Goodyear caught a high ranking Nascar official under a desk. Plain and simple. I really can't blame Tony or any driver for getting hot after the bull they take from the "Gods" of Nascar. I think I'd have a tough time "smiling for the camera" after running a whole day of 12 lap heat races cause the superhero's of the tire world sent a load of soap. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe other manufactures make tires for those cars. :boring:

Basically he was arguing his side of the issue which hurt his team bad and the official just sort of blew him off! Yes it is passion just like the team manager in baseball going toe to toe with the Ump and giving him a shove or kicking dirt on him or knocking his hat off!
I understand, you don't like Tony, well he isn't my favorite either but I can see where it comes from! Peole seem to have forgotton what the real racing scene used to be like! Drivers had grit and a deep passion and if someone crosed them or did something they thought was wrong they let them know good and proper like!
Sorry if he won't roll over like the other big name sissys!;)

So I guess sportsmanship, you know, taking the good with the bad and coping with it without ridiculous outbursts or physical actions, doesn't apply to the so called "sport" of stock car racing? I don't think it's too much to expect ANY athelete to keep his hands off any and all officials and referees. Any athelete who does not isn't setting much of an example, quite the opposite in fact.

Just like WWE and ECW are "rassling" instead of "wrestling" (where "wrestling" is an actual sport) perhaps NASCAR should be called "rasing" instead of "racing" just so we all can easily distinguish the difference.

Tiny Stewart isn't a role model.. Jeff Gordon isn't a role model.. Brett Favre isn't a role model.. Madonna isn't a role model.. Dale Earnheardt jr isn't a role model. Bill O'Reilly isn't a role model..
they are all entertainers.
to paraphrase some comedian- Chris Rock, maybe, but i'm not 100% sure on that- if your kid needs a role model, and it isn't you, then that kid doesn't stand a chance.
in racing, these people literally put their lives on the line every weekend to entertain the masses. it is an intense sport, and to be a success at it, you need to be an intense person. and part of that intensity is not putting up with stupid crap from anyone- just head to your local circle track some friday or saturday night and see how many times a situation just like this or even worse plays out, and note who is involved. i'd bet that the racer that gets into this kind of thing the most will be one of the most successful guys there.

you'd never make it,, as a racer oor and other athelete..
to be good, you have to be passionate about the sport you're in..
and that means not taking s h!t..

parents that think racecar drivers or atheletes are role models, need to look in the mirror..
sportsmanship means standing up for what you believe as right..
not just going "o.k." walk on me some more.., I'll lay down and make it easier for you...
that race should've never been run..
and since #24 showed up on the track.. more drivers act like girls...
he!!, I'm sure there are women fans with more backbone than half the girlly men being passed off as drivers..

it sounds like a few here need to return there balls under warrenty, as they must not be working

So being passionate and standing up for yourself requires you to act like an ass and bully other people? There are better ways to stand up for yourself than to physically abuse officials who are there to enforce the rules everyone is supposed to be playing by equally and to try to help insure the process is as safe as it can be. They too are human and make mistakes, but they don't deserve to be abused or attacked by the participants.

Whether these atheletes/entertainers are supposed to be role models or not, they are. If you say Tony Stewart is your favorite driver, don't you think when your kids witness his behavior they will then assume similar behavior is appropriate? These guys are happy to take your money which provides them with a lifestyle few of us can only imagine yet then feel absolutely no responsibility for ACTING like a role model whether they are or not. I just don't get that.

Richard Petty won 7 championships and 200 races. Did he assault officials or photographers, blow off fans, continuously bad-mouth other drivers, etc? No. Does that mean he wasn't "passionate"? Does that mean he wasn't a winner, or that he let people walk all over him?

People try to excuse stupid behavior by saying "oh I'm passionate." Acting like a jackass has no bearing on whether or not you are passionate, or a winner, or a success...it just means you're a jackass.
