Today Tony Z met myself and Racer1320.

Tony's friend Shaun also attended, racing his Mid 7 second Ultra Quick 8 Chevelle.

This car weighs 3400lbs, running on a 10.5W tire, leaving with the wheels WAYYY off the ground!

For those interested, i beat a super Pro Car 1st round, and broke out second round. I've been adjusting well to the LED lights, and can see a .030 quicker overall compaired to last season.

Those are really deep rims on that Chevelle. Only 10.5 wide tires huh? And that scoop! Bigger than a breadbox. Keep sending info from the track - I can't get there until school's over. Kirk

10.5W is about a 11.5" tread width.

Gonna sound stupid now... 10.5W? I'm not familiar with that designation  BTW the NHRA from Firebird is on ESPN2 right now. Go Bernstein! Kirk

Hey all,

Hoping not to start any wars, here's how the day went.........!!

I went down to Atco Raceway this morning to check out the Chevelle pictured above.

Shawn, the owner of the car and I have been talking back and forth over the internet on some things I'd like to do with my car that he has already done such as the rack. Although I've seen the car before, today was the first time we had a chance to get together and talk in person.

Shawn was kind enough to let me snap a few pictures of his car and show me some of the area's that make it such a unique Chevelle.

Make no mistake, if you want to see an exciting ride, this is one of the ones to watch. He's a great guy and I can't say enough about him helping me out as I'm still a beginner and need all the help I can get.

When I pulled in, I noticed a certain red Chevelle and gold Camaro we've all seen before.

I went over and introduced myself to both Ed and Brian and had a great time today. They are both great people and Ed was kind enough to give me a ride to the lanes in the car and showed me how well it launches.

By seeing the car and ET's in person I can tell you Ed's car is everything he claims it to be. He spent alot of time with me today answering all my questions as he always has and offered any assistance he can once I get mine together. I can tell you I'll use his knowledge and expirience to get my car where I'd like it to be.

It's guys like the ones above that make this such a fun sport. Hopefully I'll be able to return the favor to some of the younger guys one day.......

No need to preface your post. That's the same Ed I know. I think most people that know him beyond these boards would agree he's a good guy, very knowledgable and always willing to help.

Glad you had a good time today. I can't wait to see that 10.5 Chevelle run. Hopefully he will make some races down my way. One of my friends has a 10.5 Mustang that runs low 7's at 209MPH. It's a stick car, too ;) Even though it's not a Chevrolet it's still pretty cool.

Ken,
Ed also went a new best MPH of 127.25, and was running 10.40's all day.

The BSE small block has also had a bump in compression (11.5), and a new cam, along with some more head work, and is now turning 10.70's, with a best of 10.73.

Tony,
it was nice meeting you today, and you're buddies Liscense plate says it all "BBBBAD"!!
Good luck with your car, and i hope to see you at the track again shortly.
Although, i know Atco is a long haul for you.
Thanks for the kind words, and i'll keep you updated on the projects, especially the frame.

BTW,
the 10.5W tires are Typically ran with 14" wide rims, and have an actual tread width of 11.5".

the tire size was molded into the sidewall of the tire, so there is no confusion.

Ken,

All I can say is Ed has always been pretty good to me, so that's what I go on. He even offered to come help me tune the car when I get it running. That to me is real cool cause I know he's busy and my car will be a bundle of problems.

If you ever see the mean green Chevelle, you'll like it......awesome car........and a Mustang that goes bottom 7's on 10.5's?? Wow, that's gotta be something.........!!

Brian,

It was good meeting you today and I look forward to seeing you again soon. Atco isn't that far away and I might be testing my car there first just to try and sort some of the big bugs out.....you'll have to come to Cecil when Ed comes down so we can all hang out.

I'd like to see some more of your subframe design when you have a chance and unfortunately we didn't really finish our conversation on bumpsteer. You are a good guy with his head on straight and I admire you for entering the Gamblers race today. It's good to see that in some of the younger guys out there as you'll go far one day.

Good luck and if I can be of any help, please feel free to ask!!
