hello. I'm new to the site, Just wondering what the best way to buy something in the classified adds. I see a couple of goodies I would like to buy. I would hate to get scammed.I know most people are honest but? the parts are over 1000 miles away. any suggestions? thanks!

Most guys on this site running classifieds are very trustworthy.
There is a feedback section that most people don't even use here.
I would take a look at their info on the site here, see how long they've been a member, how many posts they've made, etc..
If they've been around a while, I don't think you will have a problem.

Ed, after you find out where the person lives, you could ask on here if anyone knows that person and also if someone will go look at the parts for you. To verify it is legit.

On a person that is active here I feel they are not going to sacrifice their reputation for a few extra dollars on a car or parts sale. This bunch has a high toleration for most things but misrepresentation and fraud are frowned upon to the highest degree and even more so among members.
