I just bought a 69 396/325. I was getting some smoke when I started the car, so I decided to replace the valve seals. When I removed the rockers I noticed some some serious wear on the rocker arms and rotating balls. I also noticed that I had three valve springs per valve. I'm not sure what kind of cam it has. I'm considering changing the cam, lifters, rockers, seals and push rods. The cam thats in it now doesn't seem to be to radical. I did talk to the owner who had the motor rebuilt. He couldn't tell me much about the specs but the story goes like this. He took the heads of the original 396 and had them done over for a built up 454. He spun a bearing on his 454, then decided to sell the car, so he rebuilt the orignal 396 and put the original heads back on. I'm kind of guessing he didn't match the cam with these modified heads. Any suggestions on what I should do? What kind of cam would use a triple spring set up?
